Picture of arrest.

A 23-year-old woman, identified as Arisa, was arrested by military and police officers at a checkpoint in Khlong Luek, Sakaeo province, on March 14. She was caught smuggling ketamine, a Class 2 narcotic, from the Cambodian border town of Poipet into Thailand.

Arisa, a resident of Dan Sai district in Loei province, had been working as a coyote girl, at a nightclub called “Check-In” in Poipet since March 8. She had been employed for six days, earning 800 baht per day. On March 13, Arisa purchased ketamine from a colleague at the club for 2,800 baht, intending to use the drug herself.

On the afternoon of March 14, Arisa attempted to return to her residence in the Ram Inthra area of Bangkok and crossed back into Thailand with the drugs hidden in her black handbag. During the search, officers discovered the ketamine, and Arisa admitted that the drugs were hers.

The arrest took place at the Khlong Luek border checkpoint in Aranyaprathet, Sakaeo, where officers found approximately 0.632 grams of powdered ketamine and 2.172 grams of ketamine crystals, both stored in small plastic bags. Additional items seized included a black handbag, plastic bags, drug paraphernalia, and a urine sample bottle, which tested positive for ketamine.

Arisa was taken into custody and transported to the Khlong Luek Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings. She faces charges of possessing and using illegal drugs.

Why smuggle it across a border when she could have easily bought here in Thailand?

What scale are they using at Khlong Luek border checkpoint in Aranyaprathet/Sakaeo? They are able to report 0.632 grammes. Another question springs to mind, how can you store 0.632 grammes in a plastic bag?

The 0.632 grammes, if you ask me, are less than micro-dust; how sporty of the officers 😉

It's only basic salary. Not including commissions, tips and customer fees

0.632g is around 10 grains of sugar and 2.172g is around 34 grains of sugar.  A teaspoon of sugar is around 4g or around 62 grains of sugar.  According to you someone should rot in jail for this. Quite insane as I expect her sentence will be.

After the concerns above, about the weights involved, I have checked the article sources and confirm the details are correct and those were the amounts quoted by the Authorities.

No, it's not insane but following common sense not to become a drug addict and also follow law.

No, it's not. Following laws will not bring you into that problem.

You're supporting law breakers??

That's insane indeed

Irrelevant question.

She's a smuggler and law breaker = criminal. End of story.

Not unless they are super pretty young and drug free.

Drug addicts or users would find it hard to get a good job here. As there are so many

The story of Jean Valjean springs to mind perhaps?

How can this girl be judged in the same way as those scumbag rapists from India or the British cannabis smugglers, or the maniac Thai with the machete who cut up the grandfather and young boy?

Some level of discernment is required IMO.

So no mention of being charged with smuggling. Possession of a miniscule amount of K for personal use and tested positive for using K. Shocking. Lock her up and throw away the key which is what some on here think is just..

This takes rational thought something not all are in possession of.

I think saying someone should rot in jail over a minor drug offence is irrational, however, I'm sure the righteous moralists on here will dispute this.

Does it mean bending the law is ok for you? Read what she's accused for. !!! Not only the headline 🤗

She did what she did voluntarily.

And if jail is the proper sentence then it is so

It's irrelevant if you consider that as minor drug offence.

It's relevant what the judge will say.
