What made you to take the jump and move to Thailand
Many of the national parks allow camping , bring your own or hire one . Can be fun , depending on the weather . Cycling ? Lots of people do , not for me though ( apart from short distances to the shop ) - too hot , then there`s the safety aspect . -

Visa-free stay in Thailand to be cut to 30 days
Yes, but blanket statements that it's "fast and cheap" is not true. Every embassy is different. Some are fast, some are slow. Some are cheap, some are expensive. NZ really takes the cake in the expensive department though.- 2

Retirement application from Vietnam, or within Thailand
If your DTV visa is rejected, you can apply from the same embassy for retirement visa. You can use your Thai bank account with 800,000 baht in it for that visa application. Then when you go to Thailand and want to apply for an extension, the international transfer requirement will not be applicable.
