The DOE is not in charge of basic education, that is up to states. But you, being educated, should know that... oh, you don't... hmm. Florida good example with book bans and anti woke agenda. DOE fills gaps... special education funding etc, which for small districts would be budget wrecking, so without fed help they would just send handicapped kids off to church basements like before 1972 (Nixon admin, BTW) when PL 94-142 equal ed for handicapped law was passed by Congress and signed by Pres Nixon.

Large part of DOE involves student loans so less well off can go to college. Idiot Trump says that will now be handled by small business admin... showing us how dumb he can get... SBA not there for that in any form, never handled those millions of loans and grants PLUS Trump/Musk cutting that dept in half to boot.
