The Sai Mai Must Survive Facebook page has called for continued scrutiny in a troubling case involving a school janitor accused of sexually assaulting schoolgirls, including a kindergartener, in Khon Kaen. Concerned parents fear that the case, which emerged a month ago, may face delays or be overshadowed as public interest wanes.

Ekkapop Luengprasert, the page's founder, is actively engaging with the Office of the Basic Education Commission, the Royal Thai Police, and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to ensure the case remains a priority.

The suspect, Si, a 55-year-old school janitor, was arrested on March 4. He faces charges of sexually abusing girls under 15 but denies these allegations, admitting only to drug use. Police suspect Si of assaulting three primary school girls and a kindergartener at a Nam Phong district school, where he worked as a janitor and drove a school bus.

Wiroj Khopai, director of the Khon Kaen Primary Educational Service Area Office 4, stated that they were notified on February 27 by the school’s acting director, who was alerted by parents.

One child’s grandmother reported that her kindergartener granddaughter complained of genital pain and disclosed improper touching by the janitor. Seeking assistance, she consulted the village head, obtained a medical examination, and filed a police complaint following a psychologist's assessment at Nam Phong Hospital.

Classes were suspended between February 28 and March 3 as the investigation commenced. Additionally, the grandmother claimed her 12-year-old granddaughter was similarly victimised by the janitor.

The case underscores the need for ongoing vigilance to safeguard the welfare of students and ensure justice is served, reported The Thaiger.
