Pattaya's vibrant nightlife scene faced a setback early this morning when police raided The Wild 69, an entertainment venue in Central Pattaya, uncovering several foreign women working illegally. Acting on a tip-off, a special task force from Pattaya City Police Station swooped on the venue at approximately 1am on March 28. The operation resulted in the arrest of six women from Laos and Cambodia, none of whom had legal work permits.

 

The bar's owner, a 57-year-old identified as Duanphen, was also detained for employing undocumented workers without the necessary authorisation. Police emphasized their commitment to upholding the law in Pattaya, a critical tourism hub, by ensuring swift action against any legal violations.

 

Seven individuals were arrested during the raid, including Duanphen, who faces charges of illegally hiring foreign workers. The foreign women are charged with working without permission. The operation was spearheaded by Police Colonel Anek Sarathongyoo, who pledged continuing enforcement against illegal employment in the city's nightlife venues.

 

 

 

Authorities have warned that all roles within the nightlife scene, even informal ones, require valid work permits. This incident has reignited concerns about the potential exploitation or trafficking of foreign workers in Pattaya.

 

Police are also considering further investigation into The Wild 69, with the possibility of revoking its business licence depending on the outcome. Additional inspections of similar venues are planned, with law enforcement urging bar owners to comply with labour regulations fully.

 

The crackdown sends a strong message to venue operators in Pattaya, emphasising the seriousness of adhering to legal employment standards and the potential consequences of non-compliance, reported The Thaiger.

A half dozen or so folks arrested is a setback? That's like saying a half dozen spoonfuls of water is a draining of the sea.

Preclude to a rise in tea money. Pay or else.

Tip off form Thais probably, not enjoying foreigners to step on their turf in the "milking the tourist" business.

It seems Russian workers are a protected species.. recently saw videos, from Walking Street, openly advertising Russian girls, on placards being held by young farang makes.

Just a reflection of earlier times. When visiting Thailand entertainment areas, there were times when I enjoyed sitting with a pretty Thai girl, buying her lady drinks, talking, flirting, sanuk. Yes, there were also times for a "closer" relationship but ... I suggest there are many instances where the desire is just the attention of being in the bar with so much "eye candy" ...
