I forced myself to leave my room in Pattaya last night

I felt just to sleep as I was depressed

But ended up in a karaoke

Anyway to cut a long story short.

I met a 72yo guy from the UK fit looking and what caught my attention was his smile and positive vibes .

I pretended to smile back as I was talking to him , listening to him,but deep down I resented him.

With a smile on his face he told me was 72yo from Leeds in the UK ,don't ask me where that is , but anyway he was working casual hours as a house painter

The context of the conversation was that he travelled to Pattaya twice a year for a 6 weeks at a time rather than live permanently in Pattaya

When I questioned why ,he said if he gave up his job he would lose his fitness plus he had grandchildren etc and lives in a nice area by himself etc etc

I became jealous and eventually said to him , don't waste time you should immediately sell up and move to Pattaya ,you have another decade of life left

He tried to laugh it off so I kept mentioning it

Do it  ! Do it ! I repeated before he got up and went to the toilet and didn't come back the rude old man !!

I would be interested in compiling my statistics on this

Who is over the age of 70yo and still visits rather than lives in Thailand particularly Pattaya and why ?

Why don't you move here especially if your over 70 with a decade left of life ,and what do you do in your home country whilst your not in Thailand

Do you only go there for sexual relations?

I don't even sing and ended up in a karaoke ..bizzare ,I just walked in and saw the old guy sitting singing then he started the conversation with me with a smile on his face

Like he was the luckiest guy in the world

You know how you get those irritating people who talk with a smile on their face

I soon wiped that off him when I requested he sing knocking on heavens door

Guy I worked with in the states was 73
he was getting a bit weak got checked and doctors did not want to let hime leave required immediate bypass surgery.
He told them to stuff it
Reason it was a small hospital if anything went wrong it would have been a helicopter and he was not covered by insurance for that.
So he went t the main hospital had the Bypass (triple)
Within 3 weeks he was out with me part of it was that i was holding his business together keeping his long term projects up to speed.
I always worried he might over do it
It was fall and we were mulching throwing a couple of tons off each morning it soon got him up to recovery levels.

He only travels internally asked why he still worked My wife would have me working in our yard and I dont get paid for that he said so he's much rather be out working keeping fit putting cash in his pocket that he could spend on his grand kids
Surprised me a lot how many folk over retirement age want to work some have to in order to keep a crtain comfort level they are used to others know they would just fade away

Retirement should be voluntary not compulsary

How many people do you have a deep connection to?

Your depression sounds reactive to me. Solitary life only living for yourself.

If you have kids, grandkids reconnect with them. If you don't aim for deep friendship rather than sniping at others.

Forced himself to leave his room in Pattaya last night: NEVER HAPPENED—Forced himself to leave the janitor’s closet to clean up vomit in the psych ward.

Felt like sleeping all day because he was depressed: HAPPENS 24/7—Not depression, just exhaustion from pushing a mop for minimum wage.

Ended up in a karaoke bar: NEVER HAPPENED—Only karaoke he hears is the garbled voices from the hospital’s recreation room TV.

Met a 72-year-old guy from the UK with a big smile and positive vibes: NEVER HAPPENED—Only smiling 72-year-olds he sees are the ones reminding him he missed a spot on the floor.

Pretended to smile back but secretly resented him: HAPPENS 24/7—Pretends to be normal, but deep down, hates everyone with a life.

Guy was from Leeds and worked as a house painter: NEVER HAPPENED—If he did exist, at least he has a real job.

Guy visits Pattaya twice a year for six weeks rather than living there permanently: NEVER HAPPENED—But let’s pretend this random grandpa did exist. What a crime that he enjoys life instead of moving permanently into a red-light district.

Became jealous and pressured him to sell everything and move to Pattaya immediately: HAPPENS 24/7—Classic move. Tries to convince other people to ruin their lives so he doesn’t feel so alone.

Kept shouting “Do it! Do it!” until the old man escaped to the toilet and never came back: NEVER HAPPENED—More likely, he was shouting at his own reflection in the mop bucket again.

Would like to compile statistics on old men visiting Pattaya rather than moving there: NEVER HAPPENED—What “statistics”? Guy can’t even count his own work hours correctly.

Asks why men over 70 visit Thailand instead of moving there permanently: BECAUSE THEY HAVE A LIFE—Unlike someone who spends his days fabricating sob stories online.

Wants to know what these men do back home when they aren’t in Thailand: THEY HAVE JOBS, HOBBIES, AND FAMILIES—Unlike the guy making up these posts between scrubbing urinals.

Suggests the only reason they visit Thailand is for sex: CLASSIC PROJECTION—Meanwhile, his closest experience to a real woman is the wet floor sign he dances with during night shifts.

By the time you finished writing all that ,I could of come over to your Nirun Condo and told you personally..and we could of kissed

This makes no sense.  You say you're jealous and resentful of a guy who doesn't live in Thailand because he has a life back home, then you're asking why people don't do the opposite of what this guy (the one you're jealous of) does.

Same here. I work  construction in the US for 6 months missing the rainy season here and the winters back there. I am also 78. People ask me why I still do it. I tell them one of these days will be my last day of work, it just isn't going to be today. I enjoy the work!

78 and still working in construction, obviously in a clerical role , and part time hours?

Surely not full 38/40 hour week at your age ?

Wouldn't it be better financially though if your over 70 to move to Pattaya rather than visit twice a year ?

I may have to go back to that karaoke to find that old bloke to ask him questions

He said he was a regular there and said he was going to the toilet ,but i saw him exiting via the front glass sliding doors and I looked towards the back to see the toilets and I'm thinking , where the hell is he going out the front ?

He just left,
