A massive 'K1000' backhoe, Thailand's largest, has been deployed to aid in the search and rescue efforts for those missing in the collapse of the Auditor General's Office building.

At 7 p.m. on 9th April, the gigantic 'K1000' backhoe arrived at JJ Mall, ready to support tonight's mission. This powerful machine, the largest of its kind in Thailand, requires about an hour to assemble its arm for operational use. Equipped with a giant clamp, it can easily remove large, water-laden concrete slabs from the debris.

Following the deployment of these heavy machines, deeper camera inspections are now possible.

The upper section of the B Zone has been opened, allowing entry into Zone C, where further excavation is underway to remove large concrete floors and pillars.

Officials anticipate locating additional trapped or missing individuals.

Nai Yod, overseeing the operation, stated, “The K1000 is the most powerful backhoe we have and comes with clamps specifically designed to swiftly remove large concrete pieces.”

Does this mean any survivors will be crushed by this behemoth? Or aren't they expecting to find more?

Sadly I think the latter

If anyone had survived the initial collapse they would be dead by now from a lack of water.

You can survive about 3 days with no water.

They'll probably need it.

Not sure about that 9  days after the San Francisco 1989 quake they pulled a man out , shaken but alive .

9 days later they get the proper equipment?

I bet Musk or some other billionare would have flown in fantastic equipment days ago and probably saved lives.  But, they saved face by not asking.

There is no such backhoe brand or excavator brand as a K1000,  it's likely a Chinese knock-off of an XCMG or a Sany.    As mentioned below, it's an excavator ....

That's not a backhoe  .....    it's an excavator ...     a backhoe is a tractor type with two buckets on rubber wheels.

a JCB backhoe :

one of the largest excavators in the world is the Komatsu pc8000.

the largest is the CAT 6090 fs.

It was reported very soon after rescue operations began that it was too dangerous to use large machines initially because of the danger of further collapse of the rubble due to the vibrations caused by that machines of that size.

Where have you been for the last 12 days?  It was explained very early on that machines of that size would cause too much vibration that would risk the lives of any trapped survivors.

But there is a Kobelco SK1000, from a Japanese brand, which is what it actually is and the OP is, obviously, a translation in which inconsequential errors are frequently made.

Appears to be some version of the Kobelco CK1000 Crawler Crane

There is a Kobelco badge on the operator's door, the boom has markings from Piyamitr Group.

Or could be the SK1000, which has the security fence on the cabin glass and the solid boom.
