A young woman driving a Honda Civic and her passenger sustained only minor injuries after their vehicle plunged off a 5-metre-high U-turn bridge in the early hours of the morning if 10 April.

The incident led to a second crash when a Ford Ranger pickup truck swerved to avoid the wreckage and overturned, ending up on its roof.

Police Lieutenant Kriengkrai Srimai of Khlong Luang Police Station received the crash report at 03:30. The incident occurred at the U-turn bridge in front of the Ban Ua Arthorn Mitsu housing estate on outbound Phahonyothin Road at kilometre marker 44, Khlong Song subdistrict, Khlong Luang district, Pathum Thani province.

Upon arriving at the scene with traffic officers, municipal rescue workers, and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, they discovered the Civic in a severely damaged condition, having crashed through a roadside barrier and fallen onto the central reservation beneath the flyover. An orange road sign on the bridge had been  snapped by the impact.

The driver, a 24-year-old woman identified only as Ms Da, was found conscious but visibly shaken. She suffered only minor injuries. Nearby, in the left-most express lane, emergency personnel discovered a Ford Ranger pickup that had overturned. The pickup showed signs of colliding with a barrier before flipping over. Its driver, 33-year-old Mr Tee, sustained a head injury and was rushed to Thammasat University Hospital.

According to Ms Yuwathida, the passenger in the Civic, they had been returning home from a night out in Thanyaburi. She recalled only that they were taking the U-turn bridge on their way home and were in a hurry, as the driver needed to prepare for her morning market shift. She could not recall the precise moment of the crash but felt fortunate to have escaped serious harm.

Ms Praew, 29, Mr Tee’s partner and passenger in the pickup, told authorities that they had been on his way home when they suddenly encountered the Civic falling from the bridge. He swerved in an attempt to avoid the collision, lost control, and struck a barrier before the truck overturned.

Lt Kriengkrai confirmed that officers documented the scene and coordinated vehicle removal to clear the road. He added that further interviews would be conducted with the drivers to determine the precise cause of the incidents.

At 3:30am….   No report that the driver was breathalyzed for alcohol….

That would be the primary assumption for cause of an ‘incident’ at that time.

Was a DUI test simply not reported or was it not carried out at all ???
