A 70-year-old former police officer, named Thongdee, has been arrested in Uthai Thani province, accused of luring a seven-year-old girl under false pretenses before committing indecent acts. Thongdee, previously dismissed from service for similar offences, was apprehended under a warrant issued by the Krabi Provincial Court.

The alleged incident occurred when the young girl, referred to as A, was staying at her grandmother’s house in Krabi, where Thongdee also resided temporarily. On the day of the incident, Thongdee allegedly convinced A and her eight-year-old cousin B to accompany him to buy toys. After purchasing the toys, he dropped B off and took A to his room, where the indecent acts are reported to have taken place.

Upon returning home, A told her mother and grandmother about the incident, prompting them to report it immediately to the Mueang Krabi Police Station. A was subsequently taken to Krabi Hospital for an examination to check for signs of physical abuse.

Thongdee managed to evade arrest for nearly eight years before being captured on April 9. He has been charged with abducting a child under 15 for indecent purposes and committing indecent acts with a minor using force.

During interrogation, Thongdee denied the allegations. However, given his past history, where he was dismissed from the police force for similar offences, authorities remain wary of his denial. Thongdee has been taken to Mueang Krabi Police Station as legal proceedings continue. His case underscores the importance of safeguarding children and reinforces the need for vigilance, especially concerning those with previous offences, reported The Thaiger.

Australia has a child sex offender register for child molesters.

I read there's a website showing their location, where they are living.

Thailand needs to get this in place.
