A 15-year-old boy has been shot dead and another seriously wounded after a gunman opened fire on a group of teenagers with a shotgun and handgun in the early hours of the morning of 15 April, in Nam Kliang district, Sisaket province.

The incident occurred just after midnight near the community hall in Ban Khoen village, Moo 4, Khoen sub-district. Witnesses say the assailant fired approximately eight shots at the group before approaching the victims to confirm the fatality.

The deceased has been identified as Mr Peerapan, aged 15, while the injured, Mr Natthaphon, 18, remains in critical condition.

Local authorities and reporters arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. Blood stains and two overturned motorbikes were found at the site, and the motorcycles are believed to belong to the victims. According to Mr Yailak Janto, the village headman, he was attending a mor lam event at a nearby temple when he was notified of the shooting.

“I rushed to the scene and saw two young men lying on the ground with two motorbikes nearby. I called the police and emergency services immediately,” Mr Yailak said. He added that the motive for the attack is still unclear but suspects previous tensions between the groups.

The suspect, Mr Kamnat Saensuk, aged 28, turned himself in to Nam Kliang Police Station at around 05:00. Police have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the shooting.

Initial charges filed against Mr Kamnat include murder, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, discharging a firearm in a public place without justifiable reason, and carrying a weapon without a permit.

Police confirmed they have obtained CCTV footage from the area, which captured the suspect firing both a shotgun and a handgun at the victims. The footage also reportedly shows the shooter approaching the victims after firing, allegedly to ensure a fatal outcome.

Authorities are continuing to question the suspect and examine forensic evidence as they build a case.

3 lives/families ruined for what ?

A grudge?

This happens frequently in some cities in the USA.

Surprised to read news like this in Thailand, however.

Obviously, guns do kill.

Guns facilitate killing.

Only idiots say: Guns don't kill people; people kill people.

It's beginning to feel like there is never going to be an honest taxi driver story here ever again 🤔Rip

Guns don't kill by itself.

It functions only when held by someone.

No guns mean nobody gets killed by a gun.

Killers will just use something else.

True of course, but hopefully fewer at the one time than if guns are available.

Yes, like the unarmed thief who steals into your home.

Then, shoots you with a gun he found in your broom closet.
