Loved by the left to hated by the left .. not by all. The left will viciously turn on anyone that doesn't agree with them

There's no question that this guy is somewhere on the spectrum, as he does seem to be quite a misfit. It is the cruelness he exhibits that is most alarming, and most peculiar. He seems to have a certain level of glee in regard to destroying careers and putting people out of work, and that's just downright vicious and nasty. As he's gotten more wealthy, he seems to have gotten more out of touch with humanity, and he seems to have become a lesser man.

As I've said, you have to take it all with a grain of salt, so to speak.  If he seems weird, or aloof, or cruel, or nasty, or whatever else you might think, maybe he's just not aware. Maybe he doesn't really mean to come across that way.

Anyway, I look at his accomplishments and judge him by those.  Everything else deserves a bit of understanding, I think.

And yet....

Musk remains the same, goodhearted, old genius he always was.

There's a way of judging the validity of a hypotheses known as Occam's Razor. Basically it says the simplest explanation is the best one. Musk has spouted and endorsed all kinds of right wing lies. He is now trashing what leftists consider vital government functions. Why isn't that enough to make them the opposite of fans?

My God, how much energy have you put into your ramblings in this thread?

You guys are tenacious, aren't you?

And apparently have not much else to do except bark on the internet.

You are consistently a waste of space.

Frisco Kid's posts on this thread are well-written and his descriptions have the precision of laser guided munitions. Your lazy attempt to dismiss the truth of what he said only serves to remind readers of your intellectually dishonest and shallow critiques of anything that doesn't fit your narrative.

Thank you. In general, his posts are nothing short of idiotic, an insult to general intelligence, even to those of a low IQ, and we all know that. Of course, he’s free to post whatever nonsense he wants, just as others are free to read, respond, or ignore it entirely. Personally, I ignore most of what he writes, don’t even click on the topics, and only occasionally do I bite back, like on an outright troll topic like this, but I don’t think I’ve ever made it through one of his original posts from start to finish with any determination, including this one. It’s all an insult to basic intelligence and risks you questioning your own sanity for ever reading one, so I never do.

In fact, Bob Smith posted a couple of topics yesterday that were locked immediately by the moderators for being “nonsense and contributing nothing to the community.” I think it was a positive step forward and the same could easily be said for most of GG’s posts.

My real issue starts when he ventures into spreading misinformation and disinformation, especially when it concerns controversial figures in power, politics, or economic issues, things that affect other people’s lives in general. Some of his missteps may be due to his half-baked misunderstandings of the world, but at this point, it feels much more intentional from him, designed to disrupt rational discussion and provoke chaos.

I used to feel sorry for him, considering his obvious mental health issues, but once he starts crossing into conspiracy theories, outright lies, and dangerous rhetoric, the sympathy ends. He’s not a good person. He doesn’t care about truth, people, or meaningful dialogue, as exemplified by the fact that most of his responses to others here are off-topic, mind-numbing, tangential drivel. Many of his posts also reek of racism, misogyny, white privilege, and even have fascist undertones.

Frankly, when he leans into those areas, moderators should shut it down on sight. It violates the spirit, if not the letter, of any reasonable community standard.

More people should call him out the way I have, not indulge him, not engage seriously, and definitely not reward him with validation. He thrives on attention, positive or negative. Even abuse gives him a twisted sense of gratification. The worst thing you can do to someone like that is to deny them the illusion of relevance.

He should be constantly reminded that we see through the act. The misunderstood, whimsical persona is just a cover for a dangerous, serial troll. He’s a lonely, bitter hermit who suffers from feeling irrelevant, desperate for gratification and acceptance, but with a passive aggressive streak and toxic intentions.

If people must respond, they should only do so to point out how unhinged and out of touch he really is, without offering him any of the human connection he so desperately craves. Any feedback, any acknowledgment, just fuels the fire. He deserves only cold indifference, and he should be made aware of that every single time.

It is a sad situation how insufferably detestable he has become in his quest for self-pleasuring, but I think one that is now increasingly clear to anyone reading this topic and any of his others.

I can appreciate and fully accept that people have different political views. But when someone who has repeatedly made clear that they see themselves as above average intellectually and well read, chooses to turn a blind eye to the cruelty, autocratic bent, and wanton racism of Trump's incompetent and chaotic administration, and blithely ignores the dangers to our democracy he presents as if he were Eliza Doolittle blithely picking out a new parasol or lace handkerchief in a sundry shop: (1) it completely undercuts any pretensions they might have about being an intellectual heavy weight, and, (2) tells me they lack the intellectual gravitas and historical perspective to recognize the brainwashing indoctrination of the right-wing media sphere. Well sensitized to the supposed dangers of wokeism, DEI programs run amuck, welfare fraud, and transgenders reading books to impressionable children in public libraries, people like this ignore the true danger of encroaching fascism, and the downside of trying to turn back the clock and denying that America is at its essence is a multi-cultural and multiracial society. It saddens me, but more importantly, it angers me. Look, for example, at his response to my post sharing the Democracy Now piece on Elon Musk's families South African apartheid and neo-Nazi past which raised serious questions about his ideological upbringing.  Saying  "'thanks for sending that Democracy Now 'thingy'" does not strike me as a serious response from someone who started a thread "why, oh why, has the left turned on Elon?" and seriously wants to explore answers to the question he posed.

Whereas Trumpists have been so kind and tolerant of Republicans who disagree with them. When they call someone a RINO, they mean it in an affectionate way.

What, concerning the informative vid from Jordan Peterson, which I linked in the original Topic, did you believe to be misinformation.

I would consider it very accurate and insightful.

You may not agree with JP, but this does not, in any way, mean that it is misinformation.

Isn't it super obvious. Make sensible cuts looking at programs that are not needed or marginal - and being smart about which staff are cut and which left behind - no worries. Make poorly thought out wide ranging cuts in an arrogant smart alec way like you want to be seen as a hero rather than actually doing good things and people push back.

Why weren't these same people angry at the unnecessary NGO programs previously? Does it really matter that Musk is arrogant ?

FriscoKid is a troll, and like several others who are into the political threads.

I suggest you put him on ignore.

Others are not trolls, but politics is like religion. Once people take sides, they become narrow-minded bigots. People become like religious zealots and not able to look at any facts objectively.

I only watched the first couple of minutes of the Jordan Peterson video. He seems accurate in saying govts waste a lot of money and also accurate in suggesting that Musk is good for the job because he's a highly successful engineer. You need to be smart to be an engineer and pay attention to details.

To your original point I think you are right that if he was arrogant but seen to be doing  a good job people would have cut him some slack. Similar with Trump.

The public  probably would have been and would continue to be supportive if individually programs are identified and seen to be wasteful or indulgent.

At first it seemed a lot of good could come from this but I think everything from the type of people making the cuts and their concerning access to private information, the manner in which the cuts were made across departments  i.e. so fast without reasonable due consideration of the cost and benefits, the indiscriminate way of cutting staff - who knows what good experience and knowledge lost, the examples of poor decisions e.g. sacking and having to rehire, the findings of misrepresentations of successes followed by the hiding of such background information by DOGE,  services cut, so his arrogance on top of that pushed opinion firmly against him.

Then there is the human element. That arrogance does not sit well when real people, hard working and smart staff believe it or not, are treated so poorly.

I was an Elon fan because of space x and also his boring machine ideas since I have a background and education in mining.   I changed my opinions on how he handled the twitter purchase.   He acted like a rich brash child.  Then my administration turned to full contempt when I reinstated trump's acct.  But blocked the smart kid who tracked his planes miliage.   He has made twitter his personal platform and has outdid Murdock in the disinformation.   Then cake his election support for trump, his election bribery, his Nazi salute, his support for the Nazi party in Germany.  I had been following the government scrutiny of his self driving cars and exploding starships and it's obvious why he paid trump 230 million.  So he can get rid of government oversite.    He chose the wrong method using optics rather than lidar but won't admit it.

Only thing we have in common now.
