Who takes a "peaceful morning walk" at 4.40am?

What difference does it make what time he went for a walk??

The foreigner was assaulted without reason by a drunken Thai thug.

Why don't you focus on that aspect of the story instead???

The Don.

When officers questioned Thana, he openly confessed to the unprovoked attack, attributing his behaviour to intoxication from "downing a small bottle of white liquor." Witnesses claimed the man, known in the area for his disruptive antics, was gathering bottles along the beach before the surprising assault.

Despite Thana's pleas for lenience, the authorities seemed unmoved, given his extensive criminal record. Investigations revealed his long-standing history of petty offences and violent conduct, often leading to numerous arrests and imprisonments.

Lowlife scumbag.

Good for nothing.

Deserves to be put to death.

And it stops this vermin from harming others for good.

It's a big world out there, sonny. Lots of different people from different cultures. My dad, born in 1921, serving in WWII, always woke up by 5:00 AM and would sometimes go for a walk around his neighborhood. Are you trying to blame the victim? Because - you're racist and don't like dark skinned people from south Asia, therefore they don't have the right to go around minding their own business unmolested? And even if he WAS partying all night, so what? He wasn't bothering anyone, and has the right to walk where and when he pleases.

Congratulations,a brown man attacking another brown man and you managed to bring racism into it.Some achievement.

Irrelevant, most likely journalistic licence, in other, simpler terms, BS.

Why do so many focus on"peaceful morning walk" at 4.40am," it's irrelevant to what happened. Some of you would make piss poor conversationalists, just can keep to the main subject. You remind me of a mate who suffers from ADHD.

The other side to this story is a guy who has saved up for a while for his "holiday" in Thailand, and now has to deal with bruises, perhaps a "black eye" for the remainder of his holiday, which would personally make me stay in my hotel room until my departure, with many curses towards "safe" Thailand, and of-course, the story told many hundreds of times upon my return to my country.

The ongoing repurcussions of such needless violent acts towards innocent tourists causes far greater harm than, I think, the gov't realizes.

Well in this case he could have avoided being 'stunned and bleeding' had he waited but a few hours for the sun to be up!

If he was high on meth or E and looking for ladyboy to back scuttle then just spare us the sympathy.

Anyone with even the slightest clue knows that if you have self preservation in mind,  you have one job. And that is to avoid beach road between 3 and 5 am.
