American citizen detained under ICE hold in Florida has been released

Featured Replies

A US-born man initially charged with being an “unauthorized alien” in Florida has been released after spending the night in jail on a 48-hour hold requested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Juan Carlos Lopez-Gomez, 20, was arrested by Florida Highway Patrol Wednesday when the car he was riding in was pulled over for a traffic stop, according to his attorney Mutaqee Akbar.

Lopez-Gomez is an American citizen born in Grady County, Georgia, where he currently lives in the city of Cairo.

He was arrested by Florida state police because Florida passed a law making it a crime for an undocumented alien to cross into the state. They reported this to ICE. ICE requested that he continue to be held despite the fact that it was quickly acknowledged that he was a native-born American.

Another Maryland man kind of US citizen?

Did you miss the part about him being native-born? Bigoted much?

He had an un-American name (Juan, should be John like everyone else) and spoke with a funny accent. These are literally the reasons he was taken into custody.

The Amish and Mennonites should be very afraid. They have strange accents, sometimes a bit halting in their English and don't dress like normal Americans.

One wonders is ICE Agents are lacking a bit of nous. Almost suggests they tried for the FBI, but failed the County Sherrif's exams.

Like the Fed version of Reno 911.

In both cases, I imagine attorneys are planning lawsuits against the illegal activities of the police officials.  Knowing that the officials are aware of the individuals being American citizens then the police MUST according to the Constitutional laws follow such laws.  Eventually, this type of person will be able to sue the government officials doing illegal seizures! IMHO anyway.  Though Trump cause of this activity will most likely escape any problems!

Are you, perchance, interested in buying a bridge?

Some people still believe every lie that Trump puts out and immediately acts even though they realize what he is demanding is illegal.  eah the SC said he could do no wrong but IMHO the laws will come back to haunt him and his people.  If he survives the entire 4 years in this term, I blv that he will be taken care of and will cease to bother Americans and the world.  MHO anyway as I do not believe in breaking the laws set forth in our constitution - I took that oath many times during my career both military and civilian.
