Why so many conspiracy theorists and what to do about them

This forum is for entertainment, tell as many as you like.

But you probably shouldn't stalk posters from thread to thread, or forum to forum, only a complete nutter would do that!

So you admit you tell lies about other members on here, great, as I am one you tried it on with, now that is the behaviour of a nutter........

Now you are accusing me of stalking, yes, very odd behaviour...................😒

More conspiracy theories are not at all.   They are truths denied by authorities, to stop us becoming intrigued; and then investigating further.

That's what we have been told.

Maybe they have gone to the moon, but they are withholding from the masses what's actually up there.

I expect them to be polite, on topic, and refrain from personal attacks and stalking on other threads.

yeah, good luck with that.

Here, this guy is claiming NASA is building a city on the Moon.

Or is it just a base?

First time I hear about it.

But it seems NASA and the Chinese have been sending robots up there. Even if astronauts never actually landed.

Don't like cats, but love rabbits!

Move on stalker boy.

It's debatable whether people should even keep rabbits as pets.

Rabbits evolutionarily evolved to run away from predators.

They hyper-ventilate when you hold them in your arms because they feel trapped and unable to run away in case of a predator.

What's the point of having a pet if you can't hold it in your arms?

Sorry if I'm stalking you.

Ignoring conspiracy theorists means allowing their infection to spread unhindered.

Rabbits taste good, so do frogs 😉

Many kept rabbits, chicken and pigs and also cows in the old days, but in smaller neighborhoods chicken and rabbits was more acceptable than larger smelly animals. Rabbits do not make to much noise either of not horny or scared. But when they cries, it sounds like babies getting slaughtered. Scary in the night if never heard before 😆

Some here don't believe in vaccines at all.

Whilst  some appear to have no issues with the tried and tested well established vaccines (Measles, Polio, etc)  but are finding it difficult to be confident in a vaccine that was developed in a relatively very short space of time.

Bearing in mind The media's over zealous reporting of negative side effects, when it suited them, coupled with the pharmaceutical companies being granted immunity, and the "almost mandatory"  way they tried to force it on people, and that several vaccines have quietly been withdrawn from use I think it is only natural to feel some concern, not doing so would be contrary to most peoples common sense.

Since when did governments and institutions like the WHO deserve our unquestioning trust?

'Their infection', no less. What Solution should be implemented to rid the world of those dangerous parasites?

You obviously haven't watched it. You should… but you probably won't. The best you will do is pretend to have watched it by posting 'debunking' bullet points copied from Gemini AI.

sorry but you haven't given a counterargument – just like I said, you have resorted to ad hominem....and you don't seem to know what AI is either. However regardless - you have like all conspiracy theorists attacked the messenger and not the message, yet again - and even more laughable is you don't seem to realise you are performing trur to form

Why do people who believe the world is flat, that the moon landings were fake or even that there are lizard people bother you so much?   Does it really matter?

Oh….I get it.   It’s because they didn’t take the Covid clot shot.

It always boils down to the clot shot.

Thankfully, there are fewer and fewer of your type as time goes on.

And that’s a fact, not theory.

Many people miss out on critical thinking – it’s taught at university, as it is essential to understand science or debating. If you miss out on uni., you need to learn about it elsewhere, or you just keep making assumptions. Most of the posts on this thread show little signs of critical thinking, yet they are trying to comment on scientific topics and simply don’t have the tools.
So here is Critical Thinking Checklist – it’s simple, and scientifically accurate…
Firstly learn some vocabulary
A hypothesis is an idea you test
A theory is an explanation proven again and again – this is as close as science gets to “fact”
Fact = something you can independently verify. Your hair is black (hypothesis – you dyed it. Theory  - it’s dyed I have video of him applying a substance called “Just for Men” – “Facts” are often misused by conspiracy theorists.)

To make or counter an argument, follow this simple code…

1. Start With a Hypothesis
•    A hypothesis is not a fact.
•    It’s a testable idea or claim — something you propose, not something you assert as truth.

2. Gather Evidence — Not Opinions
Ask:
•    What independent evidence supports this?
•    Can multiple, unrelated sources verify it?
•    Is it measurable, observable, or repeatable?
If the only “evidence” is a YouTube clip or someone’s cousin’s mate, it’s not evidence.

3. Test the Hypothesis
•    Does the claim hold up under scrutiny?
•    Can it be tested without assuming the conclusion?
•    Can anybody repeat it and get the same results?
If the idea collapses the moment you poke it, it wasn’t a strong idea.

4. Compare with Existing Scientific Theories
A scientific theory is not a guess:
It is a framework supported by decades of evidence, testing, replication, and predictive power.
Examples:
•    Germ theory
•    Theory of gravity
•    Theory of evolution
•    Plate tectonics
When conspiracy theorists misuse the word “theory”, they normally mean “speculation”.

5. Recognise What “Fact” Actually Means
In science:
•    A fact is an observation that has been repeatedly confirmed.
•    Facts support theories — theories explain facts.
When someone says “It’s a FACT that ___” but can’t show verifiable, repeatable evidence, it’s not a fact. It’s a belief dressed up in capital letters.

6. Apply Basic Skepticism — Equally
Critical thinking is not:
•    sceptical of everything you dislike
•    and gullible about anything that fits your worldview
It means:
•    All claims require evidence
•    Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence
(Not a meme — it’s a foundational principle.)

7. Identify Logical Fallacies
Conspiracy thinking relies on the same handful of errors:
•    Ad hominem (attack the messenger)
•    Motivated reasoning
•    Cherry-picking
•    Special pleading
•    Unfalsifiable “just asking questions” loops.
If a claim only works when ignoring evidence, inventing motives, or shifting the goalposts, it’s not critical thinking.

8. Consider the Simpler Explanation
Occam’s Razor:
The explanation with the fewest assumptions is usually correct.
A worldwide, flawless, multi-agency, multi-decade global cover-up?
…or someone misunderstood an article?

9. Check for Expertise — Actual Expertise
Not:
•    influencers
•    wellness bloggers
•    anonymous accounts
•    “researchers” with no credentials
Science is not perfect, but it has one advantage conspiracies don’t:
peer review, transparency, and correction.

10. Know When a Claim is Unfalsifiable
If nothing can ever disprove it —
“It’s hidden.”
“They’re all lying.”
“You’re brainwashed.”
“Look deeper.” —
Then it’s not a hypothesis; it’s dogma.

Critical thinking isn’t cynicism; that’s what people use to hide their ignorance
Critical thinking is not about being cynical. It’s about being willing to test your own ideas as hard as you test everyone else’s.  . Conspiracy theories fail that test every time.
