I've worked, studied, travelled to over 40 countries, Thailand is the safest by FAR.   Thailand has been home for me and my large family, I've lived here over 20 years, never had a problem.

People seem keen on saying 'Thailand is so safe compared to other countries' but what do you base this on?

If you take the population of Pattaya and devide it by the number of serious crimes, I'm sure that pro-rata, it would give most places a good run for it's money!!

You can find such statistics with a quick and easy Google search. They do confirm Thailand is in the bottom third and hence quite low on crime.  I doubt Pattaya is worse than London as an example.
