A Chinese tourist is in a critical condition after being pulled from a hotel swimming pool in Pattaya in the early hours of the morning of 4 May.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 02:30, after receiving reports of a foreign national drowning in a pool at a hotel located on Jomtien Second Road.

Rescue teams from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation arrived promptly and found the woman unresponsive and without a pulse. Emergency CPR was administered at the scene, and the woman was successfully revived before being rushed to Bangkok Hospital for further treatment.

The victim has been identified as Miss Chechen Li, 30, a Chinese national.

According to friends who were present, the group had been swimming together when the incident occurred. They quickly ran to alert hotel staff, who then contacted emergency services.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.

Chinese drowning in hotel pool.

Is that now daily news?

Can hardly distinguish between the reports.

I think that the pool area in the hotel was off limits at that time. Just following that simple little rule should have saved a life.

Same like the case one or two days ago.

Some facts which may be pertinent :

The Chinese do not like to admit they can't swim as this would be loss of face. The result is they seem to drown quite regularly.

Alcohol reduces one's co-ordination and impairs decision-taking.

Most hotels bar guests from using the pool in the middle of the night due to the higher risk of tomfoolery and lack of supervision.

There will be another Chinese drowning next week.

She's still alive.

Yes, you're right. They must have got a handle on those boat trips.
