If you live in south London it doesn't really matter. But we would like Trump to kick out our gangs.

Trump makes decisions that appear to be that of a under educated High School Junior. It's, pretty obvious, in my opinion, that in his less than informed thinking he reckons since the gulf has the same name as Mexico it must belong to Mexico. No! that is not the case. It's just a name!  The fact that that body of water has been known as the "Gulf of Mexico" doesn't mean it belongs to Mexico. It's just a gosh darned name it was given hundreds of years ago. When the USA gets a reasonably educated and sharp minded President again, the name will be reversed back to it's rightly historical given name. Gulf of Mexico

Origin of "Gulf of Mexico":

The name "Gulf of Mexico" (Golfo de México in Spanish, Golfe du Mexique in French) began appearing on maps and in historical accounts in the mid-16th century.

The term "Gulf" comes from the Latin word "gulphus," referring to a body of water partially enclosed by land.

The "Mexico" part of the name is associated with Mexica, the Nahuatl term for the Aztec people and their empire, which was the dominant power in the region when Europeans arrived. Because mariners had to cross the gulf to reach this territory, Europeans named it after Mexico.

The name "Gulf of Mexico" became the most common name by the mid-17th century and was widely used even when it was still considered a "Spanish sea."

On the other side, America is the whole continent, and not necessary Usa only, but it was the method and presentation coming from Trump, most people reacted or got offended by.

However

California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, texas most of Arizona and Colorado, and parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Wyoming was originally spain/Mexico

America, as in the Americas, and bordered by more than one country.

So far with only 14 votes, I’m quite surprised by the result and confirmed my feeling. Many liberals members have left the forum.

Map makers tailor the names to the audience.

Does anyone know or even care in the UK that in Argentina the maps are printed with the name Malvinas Islands rather than Falkland Islands?

Doesn't make a jot of difference to the status, but if makes the audience happy go knock yourself out
