GroveHillWanderer Posted Tuesday at 08:51 AM Posted Tuesday at 08:51 AM There's an absolute plethora of straw man arguments on this thread. The article says that these new strains cause only mild symptoms, and that "patients are being managed like those with common respiratory conditions, negating the need for special quarantine measures." A lot of the responses posted so far make it sound as if the Doctors mentioned in the article were pitching this as a critical health emergency and calling for an immediate nationwide lockdown, whereas they are doing nothing of the sort. 1

If it's just like the normal flu and nothing special about it, it's not news. But it has the word Covid, and I think that this article is actually just rage bait lol. If they put the word Covid in it, they know that there will be people who are either completely done with it, I mean like really DONE, or people who still hide under their bed, double masked in a room where everything is covered in alcohol gel. These people only come out from under their bed to do their daily prayer in front of their Dr. Fauci shrine after pouring some alcohol gel over his statue and offer it some syringes on a golden plate. 1 1 1

Only large shops could open and they were restricted to only selling food. We had booked to go to Pattaya for New Year in 2020 under the WTT scheme. A coupe of days before they put Pattaya into lockdown, my wife phoned up the WTT people if we could get a refund but nobody had a clue so we decided to go anyway. On NY eve they increased the restrictions and as you say very little open and takeaway only. We dined in the room with the liquid refreshment I had brought along. In the evening we went out for a walk along the beach, couldn't get a drink anywhere, residents only. We went back to our hotel and went up to the rooftop bar. I was a bit surprised how few were there, then she brought the drinks list, limited choice with beer at 400 baht and whisky 500 baht. Just went back to the room, sat on the balcony with our own refreshment watching the fireworks at Laem Chabang. Following day we drove along the coast a bit outside the lockdown area and had very pleasant lunch by the sea. This was Pattaya beach about 10pm on New Year's Eve. 1 1

Nobody has answered it yet, have a shot (pun intended): -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is your take on top virologist Dr. Robert Redfield, who served as the director of the CDC during the Covid crisis, who claims that reports of so-called "Long Covid" are actually a cover-up for mRNA vaccine injury? Since leaving his federal government position at the end of President Donald Trump’s first term in January 2021, Redfield has focused on treating patients in his medical practice. He explains in the interview that his surgery is flooded with patients who have been led to believe they have “Lond Covid.” However, he notes that the vast majority of those patients are actually suffering from an injury caused by the Covid mRNA “vaccine” they received. https://slaynews.com/news/ex-cdc-director-long-covid-mrna-vaccine-injury/

Freddy42OZ Posted Tuesday at 10:29 AM Posted Tuesday at 10:29 AM I tested positive for Covid on Friday and had a very miserable few days with a constant headache, fever, muscle aches and all the other typical symptoms. I'm now starting to feel better but I can only talk for about an hour before my throat starts hurting. I was on a 3 hour call earlier and by the end I could barely speak. My throat is very sore right now. I know a few people who've either got it or know someone who has. I've quarantined myself since I started feeling sick on Thursday evening. Any virus that's in me isn't getting a chance to spread to anyone else, which is what we should all do. If everyone who got sick just stayed away from other people until they were recovered, then the virus wouldn't be able to spread. But I expect a lot of you are too selfish to think about other people. And for the record I had 3 shots and have had Covid once before. 1 1

As they always catered to the local customer base. Same with other favorites in other provinces. While most other vendors, easily 90% were shuttered. Even 7-11s in tourist areas were shuttered, since dependent on tourist traffic. We went to places we would never visit during high season, as simply too crowded & overpriced, when not shut down. I welcome the next shut down, for any reason ... PLEASE. 2

If so, I think they've had enough warnings, not the best to put all you eggs in. Past slow downs, reasons for tourist slumps; tsunami, protest, SARS, bird flu, a couple or 3 coups, more protest, global recession. Add those to 3 years of Covid, and about a third the high seasons I've been here, have been hit hard.

Not necessarily, most were in all sectors from construction to factory working to civil service. These were formerly pillars of the domestic economy which were not significantly impacted by climatic or political events such as the 2011 floods or the 2014 coup. But the Covid crisis left them unable to pay installments, following which they borrowed from banks and then loan sharks, and they still have their head underwater. Not to mention the failing health of many of them since they took the shots. The current government's focus on tourism is boosting numbers on a macro level, but not helping mainland Thailand. 1
