Thai bar girls throwing Roman Salutes

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Well it looks like former MMA champion Jake Shields is in Thailand and went to a bar and found the girls listening to Kenye West's new song "Heil Hilter" and throwing salutes.

I thought they already got in hot water before for wearing Nazi images so it will be interesting to see if this makes the media cycle. 😂

Jake in the Red Light District of Thailand, picking up sex workers, while condemning OnlyFans girls.

The irony.

It's funny when people say Thais don't know about history.  I'm not 100% sure, since you are asking them in English and maybe German or World War or Holocaust doesn't register the way you think.   Ask them in Thai and then get back to us......  Same thing in China.  Ask them in Chinese, they get it.  Ask them in English they ask, What?  and you think they have no idea.

I'll wager the group of people in the video know zero about Nazi German.

seems to me like they just don't care. It's just European history and outside their sphere of interest.

They really don't care.

Which is pretty cute.

No one "got into hot water" for that, something that does not break any laws, all they got was criticism from those who did not respect their right to wear/display anything they were free to do.

It's also their prerogative.

Indeed but that's usually what "getting in hot water" means sadly.

in this story "Thai girl band BNK48 sorry for Nazi T-shirt controversy" they were effectively shamed and browbeaten by Israel in to making a public apology for they offense THEY took themselves.

All she had to know was where to get the uniform that she, undoubtedly, did not make herself, thus requiring no historical knowledge.

No, "getting into hot water" indicates something more serious and consequential than a bit of online critique.

B0llocks, they were not "browbeaten by Israel" and there is no indication that the band "took offence themselves".

Fair enough. That's just what we say in America where I'm from. Getting condemned by the ambassador from Israel would apply here if my opinion but the not in the UK I guess. 🤷

Here's the quote. Israel found this out and went out of their way to target them. That's called getting browbeaten by a foreign government.

After seeing photos of the rehearsal, Israel's deputy ambassador to Thailand Smadar Shapira, said: "Presenting Nazi symbols by the band's singer hurt the feelings of millions around the world, whose relatives were murdered by the Nazis."

Yes, that is the quote which is just the opinion of the Israeli ambassador, not a "browbeating by Israel".   Where was the suggestion that the ambassador "went out of his way to target the band"?

it occurs to me this may be blowback from that latest viral video of the Israeli girl who said "my money built your country". I think they may know more than you would guess.

I really can't get upset - most of them won't have the beginning of a clue about the significance, and there will be another dance craze along in a couple of weeks.

As for lack of knowledge of European History, how many of us know about comparable times in Thai history? Plaek Phibunsongkhram, the Franco Thai war, the influence of Japan, and the Martyrs of Thailand?

Does Israel only get offended when Thai hookers have a bit of fun?
