More panic headlines I see. Just like last time.

Look, covid isn't going away. It's real. But at this point, you should treat it like the flu. Take it seriously, and if you get it, go to the doctor and get some medicine.

Unfortunately, the Thai media lives on scare headlines.

What a miserable country Thailand has become - everywhere you go, you see frightened and miserable-looking people in muzzles. It is pathetic and makes a mockery of their whole Land of Smiles schtick. So glad I don't live there anymore. Majority of Thais are brainwashed cowards.

Funny but not really as the non-maskers make such a mockery of those folks wearing them in hopes of prevention.  None of us mask wearers that I know of make any negative comments about you folks who dislike wearing masks.  I don't see fright on any of the faces,.  I too am glad you don't live here anymore.

On my last three trips to Thailand I caught Covid every time! 🤒

Although I have been vaccinated 7 times, it didn´t help me much this year as I was bedridden for 4 weeks in Pattaya

with constant fever, extreme fatigue and with dry mouth and throat I lost my taste as well!

It developed into a dry cough that I still have today 2 months later!

Last year I was only sick for 4-5 weeks, but this year much more severe!?

My guess is it´s a new strain more potent and resistent against vaccinations!?

Or maybe there's something wrong with you?

Went to a Thai market this morning.

Seems like many more people sneezing and coughing.  I really noticed it watching people sneezing with no protection on the foods and meats.

Lots of people sick it seems.

So the cured ham is becoming infected ham?😀

As i understand it, it is spreading everywhere. Started heavily in Bkk. spreading out now. School in Prachuap has closed some classes because Covid was found in some students. I expect it to get worse. This began in China again and spread here. When will China start testing their travellers or when will Thailand begin demanding travellers to test before entering the country. This would not be a problem in Thailand if only Thailand worried more about its people than tourists entering.

Schools closing classes? Madness.

If Thailand cared more about its people it would focus on actually educating its children, rather than pushing a narrative of fear and the importance of simply doing what your 'elders and betters' tell you to do, because 'they know better'.

On a more general point - what's happened to the member (the bloke with the masked dog avatar) who used to bombard AN and these Covid threads with reams of stats and doom and gloom projections?

I have to agree, you do have a point

Of course I am right, I have eyes. As soon as you land at BKK airport, you are greeted with a sea of faceless slaves in face masks. And then, upon leaving the airport, you see an almost endless conveyor belt of thick taxi drivers driving alone with masks on. Immediately, the place feels like one big mental asylum stuck in a dystopian covid time loop. Many expats cannot accept this, since it challenges the deeply held notion that they have moved to somewhere better. Hence why so many of them perpetuate lies such as "Thais have always worn masks blah blah" even when there is clear evidence which shows this is <deleted>. It's a coping mechanism to obsfucate their obvious delusion.

Some of my friends [mostly Thai] have Covid  NON of them have visited a Hospital just used a home tester + all have been vaccinated and boosters  ... does not appear the vaccine work as some have had Covid 2 or 3 times before + after the Vaccine

As for Masks I always put on then going out, never stopped wearing just automatic after so many years..  I cannot have Vaccines, so try to protect myself  best I can.

Last visit to Makro appeared all the Staff + me had masks,  last night visited Makro again there were a good many shoppers with masks on.

Masks don't stop you getting covid or even  limit the chance of getting covid as the virus just passes through the mask , so can you tell me why you wear it ? Because everytime you wear the mask it cuts down on the freedom of someone who does not want to wear one because as I said it does NOT stop you getting covid  but the more you wear the mask the more the authorities will insist on it STOP WEARING YOUR BLO.DY MASK !!!

Oh and it is no surprise that tourist figures are down. People go to Thailand because they have been told it is the land of smiles. Understandably, they expect to be greeted with smiley, happy faces - but instead they get something that feels like a dystopian B Corp movie. Either consciously or unconsciously, they reject this and decide to go elsewhere. The rest of the world rejected masks a long time ago, and it is high-time Thailand did the same.

Covid symptoms are not akin to the common cold - I know having experienced both.

I agree not usually necessary to go to hospital with Covid unless in vulnerable group or experiencing very unusual/severe symptoms.

So enlighten us on the different symptoms.  List the symptoms for both Covid and Commom cold....no embellishments please.

Even if they did work - so what? Wearing a filthy mask all your life, restricting your breathing and oxygen intake, making you look like a mutinous dog - all to avoid a virus that will just leave you with a slight fever for a couple of days. It is literally the worst trade-off in human history, yet so many morons willingly partake in it - mostly because they are either thick or total cowards.

And yes, you make a good point about restricting the freedom of others - they unnecessarily perpetuate a climate of anxiety. All wholly unnecessary now that the virus is no more harmful than a normal flu. It is like continuing to see soldiers walking around with rifles even though the war has ended, it creates a negative atmosphere all because some cowards can't move on and/or want to feel as though they have some sense of moral superiority. Awful people on so many levels.

Convention of cowards - bet hardly anyone in there does anything meaningful to maintain good health. Forget going for a run or eating greens, oh no let's just put a tatty surgical mask on that barely covers my face. Absurd, dystopian and completely worthy of ridicule.

Dial down the passive aggression please.I can only describe my own experience and I am certainly not going to list out for you the symptoms of COVID and the common cold. There's plenty of easily accessibly evidence on that.

To expand on my earlier post my experience of COVID was that on one of the two rough days, I had the most painful throat condition I've ever known - not remotely comparable to the common cold.

There are crazies out there who claim COVID is no different to the common cold in its symptoms, the type of people who gobble down horse medicine and place a childlike trust in "natural immunity." I presume you are not one of those.

It really isn't, at least in many cases.I'm not in a vulnerable group and only felt ill for a couple of days though a cough persisted for a week. But it was very obvious during the crap couple of days that this was something very different from the flu.

It is compared to actual flu. People calling common colds flu is part of the problem.

I’ve had Covid twice, the second time was barely a cold. The first time is was 4 days that felt exactly like last time I had a proper flu.

Both flu and Covid primarily kill the elderly and infirm for most others it’s a few days of relative misery with “flu like symptoms”

I’d respectfully suggest that either (a) you have some serious health issues or (b you need to learn to use a condom and stop confusing some industrial level STD with Covid 🤷🏻‍♂️😁

mask wearers became.

I think the new forum rule on posting swathes of AI generated "crud"  put the dampers on it.

You mean it wasn´t  Covid?

I tested positive every time!

This year I even did 3 tests to be sure, 2 nasal and one saliva, all showed positive for Covid-19.

I also tested for Flu A & B, but was negative.

Symptoms all consistent with Covid, only I didn´t get a stuffy and congested nose this time!

Most symptomatic except constant fever and fatigue is the dryness of your mouth and throat and lack of taste and smell!

You got that strange metallic taste in your mouth all the time making you loose your appetite, and kind of feel nauseous.

Even today 2 months later my tongue and mouth still feels a bit dry, but my sense of taste is slowly coming back.

I have become very sensitive to smells though, and can smell a person with deodorant from miles away!😆

lol, I thought by this time that Thailand learned that the whole plandemic was overreacted? More people ate being killed and seriously injured by traffic in Thailand than by covid-19.

Not in Thailand, covid is like a religion, and wearing your mask like a complete coward is the perfect way to show you are committed to this deranged religion for life
