A woman experienced a terrifying ordeal on Rama II Road when a piece of cement fell from a bridge, shattering her car’s windscreen. The incident, which she described in a Facebook post on 19th May, highlights ongoing safety concerns on the road.

 

Facebook user "Sud Kanung" detailed the incident, explaining how the cement dropped unexpectedly from the bridge—specifically at the outbound expressway lane near The Niche ID condo—damaging her vehicle. She attributed the mishap to negligent contractors who failed to ensure safety during their work.

 

Fortunately, the incident resulted in no injuries, but it serves as a stark reminder of the risks drivers face. The Bang Mod Police Station and Viriyah Insurance have stepped in to assist her with the situation.

 

The driver emphasised the importance of vigilance, noting that simply keeping an eye on the road ahead and behind is insufficient; one must also be wary of potential dangers from above.

Happily she someone who says she is looking on the road ahead and behind....Most drivers don't look further than the end of the car it seems

OMG  LOL  yes very funny    but oh so true.

It is terrible and stressful going through there.  Looks to me like a minimum of 5 years to finish. Bad.

How to wary from above. Even at 30kph if something falls from the sky you would still be unable to avoid it, unless you saw the initial instant it began falling. These accidents are never ending on the Rama 2 construction project. Why they have not closed it and begun an intense investigation it why so many accidents happen?

It is not easy to judge from a single photograph, but the second picture, which seems to be of the fragment that fell, appears to be old concrete. The larger pieces that fell a few weeks ago, and ended up killing the driver through intenral injuries, were also old concrete. This needs to be very carefully investigated, since pieces falling from an older structure is very different from things falling while under construction, and the opportunities for further pieces to fall is enormous.

Just put up a SAFETY FIRST poster. That will take care of it. 😜

Which is why I get nervous driving under the many Skytrain terminals they've built over the roads, or any other half-baked construction ideas hanging over roads here.

Yup, that seems to be their approach to safety issues, plaster the whole work area with "safety first" posters and carry on as usual.

The worst thing is nobody is surprised by this.

It's when the little pieces from older constructions become multi ton pieces.

That darned construction project has been going on for 50 years. Thats a lot of money wasted.
