The operation saw over 50 officers from key departments, including the Tourist and Immigration Police, sweeping the area in a bid to curb the illegal activities that have marred the city’s image.

Wouldn't they accomplish more by tackling government corruption? Or human trafficking? Going after sex workers? In Pattaya? Really? Talk about guys who are NOT serious people.

This is really great and I'm happy for you. Your case seems to be the exception rather than the rule as you probably well know. Having lived in LOS for about 8 years you hear ALL the stories of farangs getting taken to the cleaners marrying bar girls. I remember talking to an Irishman on the Pattaya Bangkok bus lines 10 years ago or so. Sobbing most of the way to Bangkok. Did the typical marriage thing, bought here a house in her name with most of his money  blah blah. She kicked him out and took it all.

No you don't hear 'then all' because the successful ones have no need to declare themselves or wine about how they've been duped. Including myself i have many friends, both here and in my home country,  who are enjoying they're lives married to thai ladies who don't really want to be reminded of they origins.

“Protect Pattaya’s image “??    That’s a joke, right?  The only reason, 99 percent of people visit Pattaya is to get some.  FFS.

What they don't seem to understand is that you cannot protect Pattaya's image, you cannot worry about hurting the image of a place that already has a horrific reputation.

To understand something, you have to use your brain, and that is something that is sometimes lacking among the people who create laws and the people who enforce them.

Does that mean all the lady bars throughout Pattaya will be immediately closed down that would mean a lot of brown envelopes no longer being used to turn a blind eye ! All this means is the girls will go back to using Thai Friendly or Tinder like they did during Covid having said that there are still a number of them who still use the sites !

Shame on Thailand for not providing for these young mothers.

I explained about benefits at home to a Thai lady. She thought I was telling her a fairy story. Thailand doesn’t take care of its people and those who run the country don’t give a damn and only line their own pockets, leaving the population to live in third world conditions.

I agree when people ask me why I'm living in Thailand or why a gravitated to Thailand I tell them the reason I love staying in Thailand is my love of ancient architecture. My love of Sukhothai design is lifelong. The older ones with the Khmer influence are especially appealing to me. I have been to Wat Mahathat 30 times. The influence of Singhalese, with the Lotus bud chedi, ( a symbol of purity and Divine birth) and the four images of the Buddha, are profound. I especially like the Wat Chedi Chet Thaeo in Si Satchanalai. I am also deeply drawn to the Hariphunchai architecture found in the Sukhotahi Historical park. I used to travel to Bagan in Burma often. It is not possible now, but the Pahtothamya Temple is one of my favorites, with the 11th century paintings of sea creatures.

This shuts them up quickly. They look at me like I am from another planet. Wow. I had no idea you were so passionate about archaeology.

I know it's probably off topic but just to back you up i found Pi Mai to be one of the most awing places i have been to.

It's ignorant comments like this that harm Thailand.

Nothing to do with culture, it's political.

I'd say most of the prostitutes are working in the sex industry for survival.

In the west the government would provide social security and welfare payments (thousands of dollars after the birth) for these young mothers, government would garnish the fathers wages, the woman may be on maternity leave, she has income but sadly in Thailand these very POOR young woman (girls) have no money to support herself and her baby.

Most times the father has abandoned her, these girls have no one to turn to for support, sadly they make wrong decisions in life.

Again, these girls/young mothers, Thailand has failed these young people, at times they have no option but to work in the sex industry.

Shame on Thailand for not providing for these young mothers.

Oh please. Yes, Thailand has not created the opportunities to lift people out of survival mode. That said, I see young men and women working day in and day out for a pittance doing mind numbing manual labour. Sure the temptation to live a life of crime and reap the easy money must be high. They choose not to and show up every day doing the best they can to get by through “honest work”. I am not bashing those that have chosen a life of prostitution. It’s their life, their choice, and I don’t walk in their shoes. I take issue with the idea that they somehow had no choice. That diminishes those that make the hard choice and show up every day to do “honest work”.

Eat or not.  School your kids or not.  What other option is there for a young mother who maybe didn't finish school; has been left with two kids when her Thai husband abandons her and his family?

The mothers parents usually help out with raising kids, millions of Thai ladies have honest jobs , same as the West easier to lie on your back and make good money.

Police to maintain order and uphold the law in one of Thailand’s popular(sex) tourist hubs.

Did they mobilize army of cops including Decoys(faking prospective clients, and flash their badges  when the street girls approach them)?

Not saying this isn't true to a degree but single mothers on welfare in the west have been jumping on OF at a massive rate, lots of people are greedy and want more. Welfare generally becomes the family business, pump out kids every few years to ensure the money keeps flowing and you don't have to interview at the benefits office.

Where is Thailand going to get this money from? It seems like barely anyone pays taxes over here, so join the mass debt spiral of the west by being in huge deficits every year?

Now you could say the government could do more to enforce that Fathers pay their way if they leave

"marred the city’s image"?

The city's image is that of prostitution.

What a joke.

They do this about once a year and the articles are almost exactly the same.

Men come to the country to enjoy the young ladies of the evening. Get over it.

As has been mentioned many times Pattaya,s reputation is built on prostitution

It's known Worldwide as the Sin city  capital of Thailand

Don't worry about the well known reputation of Pattaya

It's a imagine that won't change plus don't forget Corruption to be included

To much money 💰 🤑 to be made 🤑

Where are these 50 cops when they are not doing this week's "look I'm working'" stunt?  I only ever see 1 or 2 cops by the beachside crosswalk near Central Festival.
