the only thing thats changed is there are more violent transgenders, and the hookers are now fat, when they used to be gorgeous

Not saying this isn't true to a degree but single mothers on welfare in the west have been jumping on OF at a massive rate, lots of people are greedy and want more. Welfare generally becomes the family business, pump out kids every few years to ensure the money keeps flowing and you don't have to interview at the benefits office.

Where is Thailand going to get this money from? It seems like barely anyone pays taxes over here, so join the mass debt spiral of the west by being in huge deficits every year?

Now you could say the government could do more to enforce that Fathers pay their way if they leave

Yep, in Australia there are families, generations of woman who have never worked a day in their life. They just keep pumping out kids to receive the welfare cheque

It's ignorant comments like this that harm Thailand.

Nothing to do with culture, it's political.

I'd say most of the prostitutes are working in the sex industry for survival.

In the west the government would provide social security and welfare payments (thousands of dollars after the birth) for these young mothers, government would garnish the fathers wages, the woman may be on maternity leave, she has income but sadly in Thailand these very POOR young woman (girls) have no money to support herself and her baby.

Most times the father has abandoned her, these girls have no one to turn to for support, sadly they make wrong decisions in life.

Again, these girls/young mothers, Thailand has failed these young people, at times they have no option but to work in the sex industry.

Shame on Thailand for not providing for these young mothers.

What a load of 💩 The vast majority of these girls do it because it’s easy and as they say (big money) And as we all know money is their god in Thailand. There is a few who do it for family but they are in the minority. Most of the girls lie to family back home about what they do they say they work hotel/restaurant or 7-11’s or massage parlours. And the vast majority among don’t have children.

Hey, I'm not here for an argument or trying to convince the haters, you guys have your own negative thoughts about these girls, been burnt in the past.

The "image" of Pattaya has been "bad for quite a while.

Why do they want to protect a bad image?

I am not negative about the girls. I talk to many girls in bars while i’m playing pool with my teams (too old now for horizontal activitys) most of the girls are positive with what they do. They like to party and have fun. Just like the tourists and getting paid big money as they say is a bonus they realy enjoy.

This is really great and I'm happy for you. Your case seems to be the exception rather than the rule as you probably well know. Having lived in LOS for about 8 years you hear ALL the stories of farangs getting taken to the cleaners marrying bar girls. I remember talking to an Irishman on the Pattaya Bangkok bus lines 10 years ago or so. Sobbing most of the way to Bangkok. Did the typical marriage thing, bought here a house in her name with most of his money  blah blah. She kicked him out and took it all.

You hear only the bad stories, but there are a lot of good stories. Most people don't want to tell that they found their wife in a bar !!

I met people and have friends on both sides. Long-lasting happy marriages and just a few people that lost a lot or everything.

I used to talk to many bar girls, and there are so many possible reasons why they do this job.

I left school in the 2000s and grew up on a council estate. I know quite a few women from my high school who have never had a job, and the same goes for their parents.

My mum was a single parent. She worked full-time from the moment I started school, and before that, she worked part-time while I was in nursery.

Yes, we received child benefits top-ups and lived in subsidised social housing, but I was still raised seeing someone get up and go to work every day. That made a difference.

Thailand and Pattaya have a world wide reputation now. As soon as I say to folks in my country that I've lived in Thailand many immediately think I"m some kind of sex pervert or worse. So, yea I agree with you. Pattaya as well as Thailand in general seems to have quite a reputation. Mostly due to it being a well known prostitution destination.

Does not mean you have to can't work to change it more to ... let's say Bangkok... where it is accepted, but in specific areas that are not the main areas.    Pattaya and the entire metropolitan area have and are growing fairly rapidly in size and it is becoming more diverse... it might be time to take two or three designated entertainment districts that are not along the beach or close to it and concentrate out of the way.  It would be a long term project, but if places like Cabrini-Green area of Chicago can change - anything can.   I do agree that there needs to be more investment in helping people that might feel no choice but to work there - before they end up there.

Unfortunately, the tourist industry would take a hard knock if clampdowns on prostitution are successful.

Can't have it both ways!

In any case, prostitution exists for those men who have to pay for easy sex

And yes, I have heard the one about being married costing more...

Just legalize it tax it health inspections and the Thailand prostitution prostitutes they have no choice other than to sell they’re goods get over your image problem and realize the facts of life that city was built on prostitution from way back when it’s not gonna change just go ahead and make it legal tax them let them have decent places to work and practice or trade TIT

Does that mean all the lady bars throughout Pattaya will be immediately closed down that would mean a lot of brown envelopes no longer being used to turn a blind eye ! All this means is the girls will go back to using Thai Friendly or Tinder like they did during Covid having said that there are still a number of them who still use the sites !

Not at all, don't panic.  Most of the "lady bars" operate legally, as do most of the massage shops and gogos. This action was purely about prostitutes promiscuously and openly soliciting for business on Beach Road.

The BiB just looking to collect some baht for the weekend drinking sessions at Soi 9! 😆

50 whores + 500 baht fine each = 25000 baht = 50 bottles of SaengSom! 🤣

Once fined they will all be released again and back working the coconut bar again tomorrow night! 😁

Police Clamp Down on Prostitution to Protect Pattaya’s Image

The title of this article sums up the RTP  and politicians repeat bull..t. They state this  ever year to try to cover up the reality so they can take bribes from operational brothels and individual prostitutes.  Why do they bother?

The world knows it's a fact that Pattaya  and other tourist areas have prostitutes. The RTP police know, the politicians know, the army knows and finally  the Thai people know. Who else are these officials trying to convince us that prostitution in Thailand does not openly exist? Mmmmm maybe their mothers!

After all Thailand's capital is called "Bang" "Kok". That sums it up.

If you speak to these women you will find that most of them do not want to be involved with government in any way whatsoever.

No one is trying to convince anyone that.  Prostitution exists throughout Thailand, mostly for Thai people, and is regulated and controlled.  This action is purely about prostitutes openly soliciting on Beach Road.  "Clamping down on prostitution" is just a good headline.  Anyone who has lived here knows that Beach Road hookers are regularly "clamped down on", it's nothing new.

You miss the point.  Vegas had the moniker sin city but now is a family friendly area that has merged everything.

The raid has nothing to do with anything other than the fights and soi 6 issues.  When they are not making news police do their raid at 7

Pattaya has the ability to be family friendly but they need to clean up the beaches.  Have more family friendly things around the beach.

Walking street needs to be a non eye sore during the day

It's the opposite.

The girls I know want to be registered locally with the government.

They want to receive benefits, 30 baht health care, for voting, etc..

But again this is more to do with assaults than anything.  They do not want it to get out of hand.

'Protect the Reputation'

The reputation IS sex.

Like you, as soon as I mention I lived in Thailand and am married to a Thai, the assumption is my wife was a hooker and I went to Thailand just for sex.

People that know me know thats not true, but thats the pretty much the worldwide 'reputation' Thailand has.

So protect what, exactly?

I won't argue with that. Clearly the girls/women you know are not the girls/women I know.

Your right. I did not read clamping down on beachfront. But I still like the term, Bang -kok😁
