In a shocking incident captured on security cameras, two women abducted a 7-year-old girl in a southern Vietnamese town to pressure her mother into repaying a debt. The incident occurred in Tay Ninh Province, where police have since arrested 54-year-old Nguyen Thi Huynh Lan and 58-year-old Nguyen Thi Hoa.

The kidnapping unfolded on May 20 as part of what authorities describe as a calculated attempt to recover a debt of VND30 million (US$1,155) that Lan alleged was owed from a previous business deal. With no sign of the debtor at home, the two women turned their attention to her young daughter when they found her alone.

Security footage revealed Hoa enticing the child onto her motorbike by offering to buy her milk tea. Mistaking the women for her mother’s friends, the trusting child accompanied them without resistance.

The duo then traveled towards Long An Province and contacted the girl's mother, demanding she come to Vinh Long to resolve the debt in exchange for her daughter's freedom. Meanwhile, Tay Ninh police launched a swift operation to track the suspects, successfully capturing them in Long An and ensuring the child's safety.

The incident remains under further investigation as authorities seek to understand the full extent of the crime. This disturbing case underscores the serious consequences of using coercion to settle disputes and highlights the essential role of law enforcement in acting swiftly to prevent harm.
