23 percent that's it. Trudeau doubled Canada's in less than 10 years.

Now That House Republicans Took the Plunge, It’s the Senate’s Turn
Senate Republicans say changes are coming for the sprawling domestic policy bill carrying President Trump’s agenda. Their colleagues who took political risks to push it through the House might not like them.

Replay of Trump's first administration. Tax cut for billionaires, piling up record debt, and destroying the value of the dollar. "If you seek his monument, look around you."

Welfare recipients may also not like it.

"[The] House bill is going to add about $4 trillion to the debt ceiling. The Senate bill adds $5 trillion. There's nothing fiscally conservative about expanding the debt ceiling more than we've ever done it before," Republican Sen. Rand Paul said Thursday. "This will be the greatest increase in the debt ceiling ever, and the GOP owns this now … the deficit this year will be $2.2 trillion the GOP owns that now too."

Some Senate Republicans are calling for steeper spending cuts so that raising the debt limit would not be part of this bill.

It’s not a tax cut for billionaires.  Everyone who has earned income had a tax cut.

I am very curious about something that was in the house bill.

That they wished it was still secret clause that makes Trump the American KING.

Is it still in the bill passed to the senate?
If so, can the senate be counted on the remove it?

'Hidden' Provision in Trump's Big Bill Could Disarm US Supreme Court - Newsweek

Quote

Robert Reich, a former Labor Secretary and a professor of public policy at the University of California Berkeley, wrote in a Substack post that the "hidden" provision "makes Trump King."

He wrote: "No congress and no court could stop him. Even if a future Congress were to try to stop him, it could not do so without the power of the courts to enforce their hearings, investigations, subpoenas, and laws. What can you do? To begin with, call your members of Congress and tell them not to pass Trump's One Big Ugly Bill."

There is no way I'm reading the bill.

Does anyone know if the make Trump King clause is still in the bill or not?

It may be the most momentous clause in American history IF it's there and passes the senate.

Courts will not receive federal funding to enforce contempt actions. Simply, the President can ignore the Courts. He can ignore Congress. Its the end of Constitutional Law. Of course, he might not ignore the Courts. He might not ignore Congress. He might not arbitrarily arrest opponants and journalists. He might not suspend elections. But he can do all those things.

Will add an additional 2 TRILLION to the debt.

Hilarious how republicans only care about debt when they're not in power.

No one cares about the debt.

So people are commenting on a bill, they won't read, and just following the soundbites on MSM.

No wonder the country is in the state that it is.  Best soundbite, commercial wins.

From the Newsweek link above:

A spokesperson for the House Ways and Means Committee told CNN that the goal is to stop frivolous lawsuits.

BTW you read the 1118-page House-approved bill here:

https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/1/text

Also note here:

Ensuring the Enforcement of Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 65(c)
The White House -- March 11, 2025

In recent weeks, activist organizations fueled by hundreds of millions of dollars in donations and sometimes even Government grants have obtained sweeping injunctions far beyond the scope of relief contemplated by the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, functionally inserting themselves into the executive policy making process and therefore undermining the democratic process.

This anti-democratic takeover is orchestrated by forum-shopping organizations that repeatedly bring meritless suits, used for fundraising and political grandstanding, without any repercussions when they fail. Taxpayers are forced not only to cover the costs of their antics when funding and hiring decisions are enjoined, but must needlessly wait for Government policies they voted for. Moreover, this situation results in the Department of Justice, the Nation’s chief law enforcement agency, dedicating substantial resources to fighting frivolous suits instead of defending public safety.
