A parcel delivery company on Chao Fa East Road in Wichit, Phuket, is facing significant backlash over allegations of encroaching on public land, leading to considerable traffic disruptions. This has sparked considerable outrage among local residents plagued by the ensuing safety hazards and inconvenience.

Following numerous complaints, a comprehensive joint government inspection took place on May 22. Spearheaded by Phuket MP Chalermpong Saengdee, the probe was supported by multiple government bodies, including the Phuket Provincial Ombudsman’s Office, Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Phuket branch, Phuket Highways Office, Mueang District Office, Wichit Municipality, and Wichit Police.

The investigation focused on the parcel company's practice of parking large delivery vehicles along Chao Fa East Road, particularly in Village 2, Wichit. Residents have raised concerns about how these parked vehicles impede traffic flow, obscure visibility, and pose safety risks to both drivers and pedestrians.

A company representative clarified that delivery operations occur twice daily: a large vehicle visits in the morning and a smaller one in the afternoon, with each delivery session lasting about 30 minutes. Despite acknowledging past complaints and efforts to mitigate issues, the inspection revealed these measures were insufficient.

In a bid to rectify the situation, officials issued strict directives requiring the company to adjust its delivery schedules to avoid peak traffic periods. Deliveries are now prohibited between 6am to 10am and 3pm to 7pm. Additionally, officials mandated that delivery vehicles must not block roads, pavements, or private properties and are to be parked only within legal or company-designated boundaries.

Authorities have also urged the company to employ smaller vehicles whenever feasible to minimize obstructions. Compliance will be closely monitored, with the warning that any further violations will lead to severe legal actions.

The company has committed to adhering to these new regulations, making necessary adjustments to their operations. MP Chalermpong confirmed that authorities will review the situation within a week to assess compliance and determine if penalties are needed, ensuring that public safety and order are maintained moving forward.
