Everyone is moaning about a British subculture that have started arriving since the legalisation of the herb , inc myself as there’s nothing more I hate of late when in the Uk is those scooter riding  masked off , man bag carrying twerps. And now they have been coming here instead of places like Magaluf to live the weed dream.  I’m sure visa tightening  is on its way back very soon but mainly because of the Indians Russians and Chinese who cause far more damage through criminal activities in this country. Remember this is an English speaking forum so you will mainly only get the English speaking news outlets posted here whether that be good or bad.

No you do not get news from only English speaking news outlets, the articles are mostly taken from Thai language news media and reflects what is in the Thai media.

If you need a clue each article also gives a main source of where the article is taken from.

Ok so why is it always English speaking petty crime on here? Considering the Russian mafia , Triads and now the Indian scam organisations (along with the ever present west African) are here you’d think that would be in the news . But then again they aren’t getting pissed in bars and causing aggro in public , so let’s blame the Brits for all the problems 😂  But appreciate the pointer on where the news comes from 👍

I hope visa regulations will be straightened soon. 60/90 days for EU members visa free and costly 15 days visa for Britains with proof of paid accomodations and fully paid return flight and valid insurance.

If you can possibly stop making sarky comments for a moment....consider whether this is a sign that the Thai Police have really got the hang of using their immigration database now, and may be linking it to other countries'  police databases also.

There is no link between UK and Thai criminal databases.

Doubt it. The UK government here are releasing prisoners left and right to reduce the prison population, (need to divert budgets to fund housing adylum seekers). They'll probably be tagged for a couple of months when back here in UK.

I can only guess many countries have foreign criminals (why only Thailand?) but usually elsewhere pick them up and deport then without the need for publicity.

Not sure if the Thai authorities are monitoring this but not all nationalists can mix with each other. How many times have yor heard people complain about too many Indians, Chinese or Russians? If one group comes in numbers they will drive out the other groups. Thai's have long ago been driven away from major tourist destinations but now the Western tourists are being driven out by the other groups.

As that would be expired (2015) it's 10 yrs gone.

Not necessarily.  A suspended sentence is almost always conditional and the conditions usually order the offender to attend regular scheduled probation appointments. I note that his sentence also included community service - that is also likely to be a component of the suspended sentence. If it is considered that the offender is a 'flight risk', the suspended sentence may also prohibit them from leaving the UK without permission until the sentence is complete.

Failure to comply with any of the conditions would almost certainly trigger the CPS to apply to the courts for an order to terminate the suspension and impose the original 2 year sentence.  Courts almost always grant that application and it can be done in the offender's absence.

Do you really need to ask that question?

As one poster mentioned there are only about 50 more nominee businesses in Samui alone. How about all the illegal Russian businesses in Phuket? This is a start but amounts to a fly fart in a hurricane.

UPDATE:

British Fugitive Captured in Thailand After High-Stakes Koh Samui Chase

A British fugitive, Mr. Kieran, aged 38, was dramatically arrested today on Thailand’s Koh Samui. He is wanted back in the UK for a violent robbery.

His arrest was a collaborative effort between local authorities and the Crime Suppression Division, following a dedicated request from the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) to extradite him.

Mr. Kieran had been residing in Bo Phut, a picturesque subdistrict on the popular tourist haven, with his Ukrainian girlfriend. Thai police swiftly gathered evidence of his whereabouts and obtained a search warrant from the Koh Samui Provincial Court.

However, seizing the elusive suspect wasn't straightforward, as the couple had vacated their residence on a motorcycle. A high-stakes pursuit unfolded, culminating in his apprehension at a local pier.

The arrest was a coordinated strike between the Office of the Attorney General in Thailand and the UK’s NCA, underscoring the strong international cooperation in tackling cross-border crime.

Despite the solid foundation for the arrest, Mr. Kieran responded by denying all charges during his initial questioning, a twist in the tale that may entangle the legal process.

The case now progresses to legal proceedings, with the suspect looking at possible extradition to face justice in the UK.

This incident highlights the proactive stance by Thai and UK authorities in ensuring international fugitives are held accountable. It serves as a chilling reminder of the reach of justice beyond borders.

Koh Samui, traditionally renowned for its picturesque beaches, has recently gained attention for its involvement in an international criminal case.

Although the tranquil island remains a popular destination for tourists, it maintains a strict vigilance to prevent individuals from using it as a sanctuary from legal prosecution.
