Accident Man Drowns After Motorbike Crash in Roadside Pond in Sisaket

A 22-year-old man drowned after apparently losing control of his motorcycle and plunging into a roadside pond while returning home after dropping off his girlfriend. The accident occurred late on the evening of 25 May in Yang Chum Noi district, Sisaket province.

 

Police Lieutenant Watcharawit Phoprom, deputy investigator at Yang Chum Noi Police Station, was alerted on the morning of 26 May to the discovery of a body and a motorcycle submerged in a pond along the road connecting Ban Kut Mueang Ham and Ban Khon Kam.

 

Rescue teams from the Ruam Jai Sisaket Foundation, together with local villagers, recovered the body of the deceased, later identified as Mr. Atithep “Oat”, a 22-year-old resident of Ban Kut Mueang Ham, along with his blue Honda Wave 110i motorcycle from the 1.5-metre-deep pond.

 

Mr. Samorn Kaewphakdee, 59, the local resident who discovered the scene, said he had been out walking in the fields early that morning when he noticed unusual damage to a tree and marks resembling tyre tracks leading into the pond. On closer inspection, he suspected a vehicle may have gone off the road and immediately notified local authorities and police.

 

According to family members, Mr. Atithep had returned to his hometown just days earlier to attend the traditional Bun Bang Fai rocket festival. On the night of the incident, around 19:00, he informed relatives he was heading out to drop his girlfriend off and would be returning shortly before travelling back to work in another province. When he failed to return, his family believed he may have already left for work. Sadly, he was discovered dead the following morning.

 

Medical examiners have taken the body for a full autopsy.
