Long weekend getaways from BKK

Featured Replies

Looking for some suggestions for weekend getaways not too far from BKK.  Looking for places in the country side with views, hills, mountains, etc, no more than 4 hours drive.

Places already visited:

  • Khao Yai
  • Kanchanaburi
  • Kaeng Krachan
  • Suan Phung
  • Koh Sichang

What are we missing?

Hua hin.  They have some villas near the mountains with nice views.

Thanks, but I should have added it the list.  Been there, done that!

Still looking, or already there, since Sunday of a 3 day weekend.

Just at 4 hour mark, (Gmap), though may be optimistic, since now, Sunday morning traffic.  PKK, 'Snow Sand 360' has view of hills, and decent food.  Never stayed that, as live in PKK.  Personally, I'd stay surfside in town, and drive out for a munch, as SS  360 is only thing out there.

Or you can just pop over there for a munch.   It's about 35 mins from Ao Prachuap, scenic bay fronting PKK town.  Has hilltop wat for views.  Ao Manao, Muang PKK swimmer's beach is just 5 mins from town, and about 30 mins from SS 360.   Stay at any of the 3.

From hilltop wat...

Ao Manao, RTAF Wing 5

Don't know if you want to drive after settled in, but decent waterfall 1hr 15 mins from SS 350, 'Namtok Sai Khu', no silly entrance fee.  A few mins more from PKK town or Ao Manoa.

Enough in the area for long weekend.  Or not as far south, Sam Roi Yot beach area, if not visited when at Hua Hin.

Can't forget the surfside weekend market, most weekends ...

Yeah we prefer activities rather than just sitting around a pool
