Something new is always happening.  A long time ago I heard "if you get tired of London then you are tired of life".  In over 20 years of visiting BKK I have never been tired of it.  Of course do not know if I could live there fulltime.  I look forward to going to BKK at least 2 to 3 times per year from CNX.   Love going to Central World because it has two of favorite places to eat: Cheesecake Factory and Shake Shack are located next to each other.  Also, I go to Hooters at Nana 4 every year and the only things that seem to have changed are the "names and faces".  Yes the price of a draft beer at Hooters is now outrageous at 351 baht but one can get a front row seat to the chaos and madness for a little while and then get out.

HR it's under 100 across the street and up a bit at that Irish pub. Hooters seems low energy as well 🤷‍♂️

I hate it.  Nasty little Taxi drivers that have no map, no gps and no clue where to go.  Low quality food.  Restaurants smell of urine and are filthy.  Rivers of feces.

I learned to like Bangkok for its quality food options, and qualiy hotels for sometimes  good price offers, and not to forget breakfest options.

A nice stopover before going home either way back to Norway or back to Isan, or just coming from south.

Gives contrasts to life. A few days is enough

Got you a positive emotion. Ridiculous giving negative emotions.

Love the grab options, but yes, hated Bangkok before grab arrived

There will always be mixed reactions from people of the Big city as I been living in Bangkok for the past 4 years and it has it's pros in cons, just like in city/town/village in Thailand.

Has anyone mentioned healthcare yet? In Bangkok I have a choice of great government and private hospitals, and I even got registered to use my Social Security at a private hospital in Bang Na.

The famous quote attributed to Samuel Johnson is: "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life."

The full quote, as recorded by his biographer James Boswell, is: "Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."  (In 1777.)

Got every thng as good or better than the rest of the country.  Along with the worse of, but far outweighed by the good.

As long as not looking for rolling hills, beaches or lots of wide open greenery, aside from a few nice parks.

Couldn't live there, but .... Love arriving and enjoy leaving ... :coffee1:

My love is wearing thin due to all the oversized condos and lack of grubby shop houses any more.long lost busineses

The condos seem to be a bit undersized to me, that's why I bought a grubby shophouse.

The image of Bangkok as an inferred hub of intellectuals was enough to have me choking on my coffee.

For me, it's a one night stopover traveling between Melbourne and Chiang Rai, not even that going the other way.

Why do you love it? Or why do you hate it? Or maybe neutral on it. Couple of days then done.

Lived there back when I first arrived, but after taking in the sights I quickly decided that was not a place I wanted to live.  Much like Pattaya and Phuket.  They have their allure but it fades fast.  Spent about 5 years in Chiang Mai, but after moving rural I really don't miss the cities.  They were fun, then they weren't.  Time to move on...

Thnx for the exact quote.  I have not been to London in over 20 years.  Before this life ends I plan a trip back to London and take the Chunnel to Paris.  I just want to see, feel and hear this great city one more time.  No matter where I am in the world in the future I plan to come back to BKK as long I can.

I went to Chiang Rai once. You couldnt pay me to go back there.

Rai is ok but its like a small version of Mai with less to do. Mai has a 100 good restaurants. Rai 20.
