No, no passport or ID. I missed DOB and place of birth. Other than that, just SSN and mother's maiden. I've gone through this three times counting friends I help out since many of us don't function so well given their ages. The agents all knew what to do except the first one took a long time trying to figure out if her email was enough to finish the job, but the others insisted there was no reason to doubt.

Also, when you say they “insisted there was no reason to doubt”, do you think the agents were inferring they believe the phone attestation will actually be successful in getting the form processed?  Not sure if I’ve missed something, but I thought all the agents were really able to do is complete the form and email it to another department and hope that department processes it?  Or does the agent actually process it themselves and confirm that?

They ask for date and place of birth, SSN, mother's maiden name. The impression given is that when the email is sent from they're Wilkes-Barre office to the receiving Wilkes-Barre office you can assume the form will be processed. There is no way other way to find out at this time, but perhaps in December you could get an answer from Manila or the US.

You do realize the 7162 is scanned & read by computer.  No different than if it was done online.  There's not a bunch of humans there reading and inputting the data.  Only need humans to read the ones the computer can't scan and are kicked out, illegible or didn't use original bar coded form.

 

Also why Soc Sec DD accounts overseas have limited access to electronic banking features, and human presence & PP is needed.

I wil; stick with the forms . Manila should have gotten mine this week.

That's is all the rep asked me. I asked if I needed to do anything else or follow up. She said she was forwarding everything to the Wilkes-Barre office and that's all that needs to be done.

BTW, I have yet to receive the 7162 form by mail. If I ever do receive it, I'll contact Manila to ask them if I should fill it out and send it to them. I hate assuming anything in these very trying times.

The very pleasant woman who I talked to mumbled (to herself) as she was typing in my form into her computer. It was very early on in the process of doing an online attestation, so she seemed like she was being cautious about it.  Mumbling was, in my opinion, better than putting me on hold. It revealed to me that she was inputting the data.

Same here 10PM Sept 18.  Nine minutes, polite and professional. 

 

I will stick with good old fashion paper forms. If they are too dumb to figure it out not my problem.

No.  Thai Post Office announced resumption of Air Mail for letters, docs, about 5 days after the suspension

I don't know when and where you "checked the answer" but you wrote "I have a hunch" mail is still suspended.  That's not a fact. What I wrote that it resumed not too long after the suspension is a fact. 

The two locations one in Prachuap Kriri Khan province and one in Petchabun the answer was NO!  Where is it yes ? Can anyone verify what Post Office that is and where? US Embassy continues to say mail to Manila.

If you were diligently checking the posts on this topic you would find members posting the Thai Post announcement of restoring air mail services for letters and correspondence effective 28 August....search for posts beginning of September...

And you can use Thai-Post’s track-and-trace app to check status and confirm delivery.

But you have to specify you want that service when you give your document to be air mailed...normally the post office clerk will ask you if want the service...

The tracking number is on the receipt they give you when you send it registered.

Of course if it a registered piece....When it comes to simple air mail you can pay to have it tracked in the Thai system or decline the tracking and pay less.

If there is a government shutdown and Trump goes ahead with his plan to fire, instead of furlough, federal employees, I sure hope this doesn't affect SSA and especially the people who process our 7162s.
