Is it just me,

I have been pleasantly pleased of late to not receive much if any spam to my hotmail address and then usually only some "financial opportunity".  Saying that I have never had the level of spam you mention in all the time I have had the address.

Sounds like your address has been picked up from somewhere..........

I think that, at this point, just about everyone's real email address has been leaked online. That's worrisome, not because of the spam from ladies, necessarily, but because once they have your real email address, they have an important piece of the puzzle to identifying you and steal your identity.

Apple now has a feature called "Hide My Email."  When a website wants your email address, you chose that feature and they assign you a unique email address for that site and that site only.  So it works to conceal your identity.  I've started using that feature and it works great.  The password manager saves the new address for future reference.  Apple now has other safety features also. 2FA and automatic facial recognition.  Plus, anyone wanting to change your account around with a new password has to wait an hour or whatever, giving you time to log on and lock down your account.

Is it just me, or has there recently been a massive surge in sexy ladies inviting me to do naughty things with them?  It's gone from a few a week to a hundred or more a day over the last week.  Seems like a major failure of Hotmail's span filters.

And since I'm married, these messages aren't of interest to me, so if anybody is looking to meet some sexy women let me know you're email address, and I'll happily forward them to you.

Hotmail is still a thing?

I would imagine the influx of messages are due to your online activity. Everything is direct marketing now.

Look into creating an "alias" address. Particularly if it is an old "Hotmail" account which means >12 years old.

Check for any logins in the security settings that aren't you.

Check https://haveibeenpwned.com/ for data breaches your address was involved in.

Creating an alias means adding a second email address to your existing account. It uses the same inbox, settings, and login.

I avoid Span and Span Filters whenever possible, especially from hotmail or gmail, however, my e mail address is....... (if you could ask a few of them to drop me a line)

So somebody with the same email address for 30 years should have done what, if they had known about "technology"?

Tosh.  I got my Hotmail email address before HoTMaiL was acquired by Microsoft, so that must have been in 1996/97.  My email address matches my real name - no extra digits on the end.  It signifies I was a very early adopter of web-based Email, and definitely  tech-savvy.  These days, however, I access it using a dedicated email client to manage my dozen or so accounts.

If we are one upping one another - I snagged my Gmail accounts after Gmail was invite only w/ wait-list five years before that. Even at that time Hotmail was the MySpace of email.
