If you found 12 million baht in a box near the trash, would you keep it?

Hell yea ... and wouldn't tell a soul ... :coffee1:

If I could figure out a way to steal 12M baht and not get caught ... 💰 :cheesy:

Yes. Absolutely. My presumption would be that by turning it over to the police the last possibility in the world would be that it would find its way back to the it's rightful owner. However I'd be incredibly discreet about it, and not a soul would know about it, and the city that I found it in I would leave in the rear view immediately.

Finders, keepers.

I would keep half and then report to the police that I have found a box containing ...erm....a lot of money!

This would be in the knowledge that if nobody came forward to claim it, it would be shared between you know who. I've just made sure of my cut. 😉

If you kept the money would it be a crime in Thailand?  Why did the women turn the money in,  Thais seem too honest perhaps?

Was that you I saw this morning going through our condo trash?

She was likely scared <deleted>less, could simply not imagine how to hide the cash. That kind of money means it belonged to someone wealthy, criminal, or both.

Most foreigners could conceal the money and even use it without an unexplained improvement in lifestyle.

The woman who found it probably lacks the basic privacy to even store or hide it long-term.

I would certainly carefully consider my options if the area were covered by cameras or if someone saw me leaving with the box.

The barcoded bricks are also problematic, it would take some doing to convert into clean cash.

They are. This is a true story. I was eating with my girl in a major shopping mall when she spotted, with her myopic eyes, she wears contacts but somehow was still able to spot this wad of cash. Someone had dropped 6000 baht in cash under the chairs.

She picked it up and straight away wanted to hand it in. I told her not to. But she would not listen. She got a kick out of being honest. When I protested she could have used the money, she said no there are cameras here, police would get me.

It caused a bit of an argument, I was actually mad at her for being so stupid honest.

If it was your money that had been lost and then found what would you have wished the finder to do?

Sure, but the legal position is finder's keepers where I come from. But that's what she said as well. And in the end I was kind of proud of her for being an honest person.

Took me a while though. I guess I was also annoyed she did not listen to me, but took an executive decision. Not a fan of that in a relationship.
