Xarelto (Rivaroxaban) 10 mg Bayer -- anybody see lower than 1,400 baht / 10 tablets?

Featured Replies

A few of the pharmacies near Mahidol, West of Victory Monument, sell Bayer 10 mg Xarelto for 1,400 baht / 10 tablet box.   A few are more expensive, and the rest don't stock it.

Has anybody seen a lower price for 10mg tablets of Bayer Xarelto?   A bigger box would be fine.  I know the other Thai pharmacy names, so no need to just list them.

This is mid-term follow up for (likely 2nd) unprovoked DVT, thigh, middle-aged female.  Do not want to use cheaper but higher dose -- just looking for a lower 10mg price.

Thanks in advance, Retiree

Medsafe online store 20mg is cheaper than your price for 10mg.

Thank you for your advice.  This is what's approved for sale, besides Xarelto:

https://www.mims.com/thailand/drug/info/rivaroxaban?mtype=generic

  • Rivoxam 15, 20
  • Roxaban 20
  • Rivarox-20 20
  • Rivaxored 10, 15, 20

Rivaxored is manufactured by the Indian company Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, which has had some difficulties in the past.  Would this concern you, or would you consider overall risk of manufacturing issues to be extremely low?

Sorry, I overlooked the dosage issue.  The 2 locally made brands here (

Rivoxam and Roxaban) do nto come in 10 mg dose.

So that would leave only Rivaxored  as alternative to Xarelto.

Quality would probably be OK but I agree, not as certain as for Bayer.

I just paid 1,260 for an India-made box of 30, Victory Monument area.

Was this the Dr.Reddy 10mg dosage?

Are they scored?  Because I'm a cheap bastard and have no issues breaking one in half if it saves me a wad.

Years ago, I got in the habit of requesting the Thai made alternatives to spendy western prescriptions.  Most of mine have been heart related, and I don't ever remember being disappointed with the local made meds.

Edit:  I'd add that I had many follow ups after my 4x bypass at Bumrungrad, and my results were always as expected after taking the cheaper local meds.  I didn't notice any difference with the high priced alternatives, and neither did my docs.

Most pharmacies sell pill/tablet splitters for under 200 baht .Simple and long lasting devices

Medisafe is 100% reliable..as for lower price...take a look, or call them.

My 10 mg Rivalox was 1,260 for 30 pills; the 30 mg Rivalox was 1,750 for 30 pills. These prices are much less than what Fascino charges.

They are film coated tabs, not scored.

If you are set on Xarelto brand you are not likely to get this for much less, since it is an import.

Hi, I am on Xarelto 10mg life long, now private insured.

Does Thai SSO/government hospital provide this medicine? when retired in TH soon looking for the best budget way to continue.

Thanks

Good info.  If I hadn't been lazy, I'd have pulled out my Chinese generics and checked that they weren't scored, either capsules or coated.  These are 20s as well.  Coated and not scored.

Government hospitals will have rivarobaxan. I can't say re 10mg dose  since locally made versions currently are only in 20 mg dose. Tertiary govt hospitals will likely have imported 20mg but  Xatelto brand will still be expensive. Indeed, if at one of the government hospitals which apply a foreigner surcharge, could be more expensive than if bought at a pharmacy (note that this does not require prescription in Thailand).

People covered by SS do not pay anything for medications at their nominated hospital . Whether that hospital will have 10mg rivarobaxan depends on the hospital.  The only way a retiree can be covered under SS is if they were employed in Thailand for over a year and enrolled under the SS scheme through such  employment. In which case they must elect to continue the SS coverage  on self pay basis within 6 months of stopping work.

Do you mean Rivarox made by GM Pharma?

Where did you buy it exactly?  Does not seem to be registered in Thailand.

I have a pill cutter and a milligram scale.  However, my experience is that it can be difficult to accurately cut small coated pills like these.  I personally would dick around with it, or go to the generic sooner, but for my SO I'd rather keep it as simple and safe as possible while we see how this plays out.

Interestingly, the EINSTEIN CHOICE study found that 10 mg was more effective than 20 mg for preventing VTE recurrence, as well as having a lower incidence of bleeds (but not at a level of statistical significance), which would be expected.

If they're scored, I don't hesitate to cut them in half.  But if they're not, I assume there may be some reason for that.  For example, they may be erosive and they're coated so they don't eat up my esophagus on the way down.  That's just one example and oversimplifying, but the implication is pretty clear.

Regarding dosages, I like reading the studies, but I usually go with what the doctor and I agree on.  Sometimes, we adjust the dosages after trying one on.  Maybe I need more or maybe less.  But I'd prefer to base that on my own bloodwork and tests.  We did a lot of adjusting and optimizing in the months after my bypass surgery.

I’ll arrive in Pattaya with 6 months of Xarelto 20mg. After that I need to buy it myself.
Has anyone here bought the generic Rivaroxaban 20mg in Pattaya recently?
What was the price per pack? Anything under 80 THB per pill would be great.

I just bought Micro Labs Rivarox-10 = 10mg 3x10, 1,100 baht.

MIMS only shows their 20mg tablets, but these have Thai/English packaging and Thai distributor, so I assume they're approved.
