General Surachate encouraged Thai citizens nationwide to support the soldiers in their mission to protect the country's sovereignty.

What force is invading Thailand? Khmer, Laotians, North Sentinel islanders, aliens... ?

Surin province.

"It lies in lower northeastern Thailand, also called Isan. Neighboring provinces are Buriram, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, and Sisaket. To the south it borders Oddar Meancheay of Cambodia."

What's the threat to Thai sovereignty? Just the drum beat to Thai nationalism?

Who? Oh him. One might have thought he would have been imprisoned by now but we all knew from the very beginning that the authorities weren't serious about going after him.

In my mind he was as guilty as the day is long, after all he was the ex Deputy National Police Chief, that says it all.

General ?????

In Thailand (and some other countries) Police and Military keep their rank after departing the service as a respect for their previous service.

I don't think he's any kind of "general" anymore, in terms of holding current rank.

But it does seem to be the polite custom in Thailand to keep referring to people who have retired from service, or in his case booted out, with their prior official titles...

Once a General, always a General.
