Maybe get out of Thailand for a few months and go back to a country where civilization exists away from Buddhists and monotonous beaches

I like it myself. I call it Spa mode. Food. Pool. Weed. Early to bed, early to rise, occasional Angkor sunrise. Im usually not in Thailand/Cambodia this part of rainy season (gone at Songkran) so its kind of interesting.

You must have a really sad life. There is a cure though. Try getting an interest outside of the fridge. Go for a walk, have a coffee in a local coffee shop and if you are really feeling adventurous cut down on the food and get to a gym.

We walk 2 to 3 times a day. Mainly to go get coffee or food. It's not that exciting. Even Thais say there's nothing much to do in most cities.

This month's activities ....

Helped to set up regenerative farming fields and fence off a wild area and add flowering plants to improve biodiversity.

Longboard skate along a beach pathway - hard work into the wind, fun on the downwind leg.

10k run, but stopped halfway at a nice coffee shop to eat cake, so no real health benefit

Visited a goat cafe

Visited a new bar with great sunset views

Walked around a lively night market - bought some clothes for the Missus. (I don't bother buying clothes for myself after I realised I have more than enough to last for the remainder of my life

Figured out how to setup a solar powered 4G security camera for the farm

Cleaned and maintained the motorbike in preparation for a trip next month.

Took some nice portrait photos of my muse/wife

Teaching myself video editing to make a video about the farm project ... need to work on sound mixing as it's much harder than I imagined

Conference next week in Bangkok on regenerative cassava farming

Heading to Bangkok for the Impact Speedfest this weekend.

Going to Bangsaen end of month for the Grand Prix supercar and truck street racing.

Fixed some faulty lights in the house under the close supervision of the Missus

Going to various local shops with photos on my phone of items the Missus needs to cook dinner

And yes, lots of eating delicious food.

Plenty of park type spaces to visit. Take up a hobby. I do a lot of photography and it occupies a lot of my time editing them

Would you like me to introduce you to some bar-girls.  They will widen your horizon.

Prices here got stupid, relatively after Covid.

Its the French. They call a basic Eurola Ham sandwiches, jamon or jambon whatever and zap you for an extra $2 for the French language.

You can still get Chicken Burgers for $1

Wish I had more time! So many things I want to do, there just isn't enough time for all of them. Have to space them out a bit.

I'm retired so 'work' doesn't take up any time, but there are so many things to do every day, and that's just here in town! Add in the rest of Northern Thailand and you could spend forever trying to see and do it all. We won't even consider what is south of Chiang Mai. That would take another lifetime!

I do both. Sadly, in Thailand, not that many opportunities to visit the opera, or a classical concert. As for the outdoors, I usually do this every few years when travelling to Oz, or NZ. For practical, but also other reasons, I do not visit national parks and such in Thailand...

Nat. Parks in TH, except islands, maybe, are nothing special, with very few exceptions.   Most not worth the price of admission, and just as nice, in the area around the parks.  Which we do frequent for the views.

Doi Inthanon was nice during Covid, as when driving through to Mae Chaem district, stopped to look at the waterfalls, almost roadside, and the terraced rice fields.  Actually stayed overnight at rice fields.  Nobody seemed to care, or check, and guesthouse had good food.  A pleasant, unplanned surprise.

But I wouldn't have paid 500 baht for the 'privilege' to be there.   Not allowed anyway, since we travel w/dog.

Coming from the USA, there really is nothing here to impress me in TH, except the limestone karst landscape, and still think that's pretty cool.  Didn't expect to be impress, so no disappointments, just didn't realize how small the country was, till I drove around it, more than a few times. 🙄

Non PC and lower cost of living (housing & healthcare) is pretty much why I'm here.  Very relaxed living out of the metro area, and quite enjoy it.

Why we downsized to begin with, from 400m² house on 2 rai, at Udon Thani to 1/4 rai & 130m² house at PKK.  Living for the house, and took me 2 days to  just cut the damn grass.  Then had to trim the 'wall', and didn't even bother trying.  Just the wall that surrounded the water tanks.

We're planning just that now as we speak!

This month's activities ....

We're not idle, even when home.

Last 3 weeks, popped up the BKK to visit daughter.  Popped down to Surat Thani, Phang Nga, Krabi, Chumphon, just for the hell of it, some different views (karst) & food.

Sunday or Monday, back to BKK, visit daughter on Sunday, then kill a week somewhere (?), and visit again the following Sunday, being her guaranteed day off.

Make a real connection with another human being.

Have a child.

Get a dog.

Volunteer where you can do good.

In short, stop living just for yourself.

I got cows and a family

I am online a lot, so on this site a lot.

I am not that busy.

Mostly taking it easy because I am recovering from a burnout / nervous breakdown.
