Trump was just served a rather humiliating defeat by China.

So does Trump. He needs to start engaging in some productivity, or the US is gone baby gone.    Disinviting Rand Paul to White House picnic is not exactly productive. Neither is the destruct

These weren’t the “facts of life” I heard growing up.

Regardless, you left out they invented and released into the world one of the deadliest viruses known to man.

Fact of life.

Like your other supposed facts and figures, I don’t believe a word you post.

But let’s be honest—though I know that’s asking a lot in your case.

The facts of life—America’s legacy of misery.

  • The Spanish Flu — the deadliest pandemic ever recorded, originated on U.S. soil.

  • The Great Depression — the worst financial collapse the modern world had seen, driven by U.S. tariffs and economic arrogance.

  • The Global Financial Crisis — the 21st century’s most catastrophic market collapse, fueled by U.S. greed and deregulation.

  • Donald Trump — the most unpopular U.S. president on the world stage in modern history.

Turns out “American exceptionalism” really just means exceptionally catastrophic—for all of us who have to live with the consequences.

No-one knows whether coronavirus was accidental or the result of an experiment gone wrong. It certainly did not do the Chinese economy any good, entire cities were in lockdown.

You seem to be confusing me with someone who gives a rat's rectum for your ignorant opinion.

I've heard of Trump, who is "the great man" you speak of?

Oh he is certainly a great, one might say, persuader! He has managed to persuade a significant proportion of the population of the US ( "con" is the slang term) and persuade (bully) much of the establishment and media that a fat, narcissist, compulsive liar with limited understanding of economic and international affairs, subject to wild mood swings and a total ignorance of, or contempt for, the rule of law and matters constitutional is the solution to any and all of the United States many problems.

Through his buffoonery, incompetence and narcissm, (tariffing penguins and boasting that International leaders are queuing up to "kiss his arse") he has managed to remove the US as a powerful player in world trade. He has dismantled much of the federal government which existed for the benefit of the country, and to help many of its poorer and less fortunate people's. He has co-opted the agencies of the state in an attempt to suppress and intimidate his political opponents.

He has alienated many allies.

In summary he has managed to massively diminish the United States in so many ways, and in a remarkably short time.

So yes, in these respects he is a "great man", although perhaps not in the way some, and he himself, would consider!

The left - Trumps tariffs are causing crazy inflation, we're all doomed.

How its going.

"Consumer prices rose less than expected in May as President Donald Trump's tariffs had yet to show significant impact on inflation, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday.

The consumer price index, a broad-based measure of goods and services across the sprawling U.S. economy, increased 0.1% for the month, putting the annual inflation rate at 2.4%. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for respective readings of 0.2% and 2.4%."

🤣😂😅

Complete and utter nonsense, these are fake government numbers and the real inflation numbers are likely closer to 21% . I travel back to the US 2 to 5 times a year, I have businesses back there and every time I go back there, every 6 months everyone of my staples is 10 to 15% higher.

Everyone that I talk to in the US is constantly moaning about the increase of prices, which has barely slowed down at all. Inflation is out of control, the economy is doing poorly, and consumer confidence is at an all-time low.

It's best to just ignore him, when he has nothing to say (most of the time), he just reverts to the same old nonsense. As you and I know there are a handful of posters on here that are best ignored completely.

Have you considered becoming a Chinese Permanent Resident?  You should.  They would appreciate your loyalty and propaganda favoring the state.

I’m not confused.  It’s crystal clear who is interested in my accurate opinion.  You are.  That’s why you replied.

Have you ever got tickets on yourself. Like Peter Sellers, you probably look in the mirror several times a day, and say " My God, but you're lovely".

As far as China goes, I am a realist. The stranglehold on rare earths is not propaganda, it is fact.

Opinions are only accurate based on fact, the origin of coronavirus is still a mystery. It's a great topic for the tin hat brigade to chew on.

For a man who claims to be a great negotiator he seems to be failing miserable at this point, when it comes to negotiating the hundred or so deals that he falsely promised.

This so-called deal with China is astonishingly short on details and we all know why that is. Apparently it amounts to allowing Chinese students to study in the US in exchange for China doling out a few rare earth minerals here and there. China always had the upper hand in this, as the US overreached and they desperately need these minerals.

Let’s be honest—this isn’t a trade “deal,” it’s a tactical climbdown. The U.S. just ate a hefty serving of humble pie, and China served it cold.

Beijing has exposed a core vulnerability in American strategy: economic and industrial dependence. Rare earths aren’t just commodities—they’re the backbone of U.S. defence systems, AI, and semiconductors. China controls the global refining chain, and this “deal” simply buys time—it doesn’t change the leverage.

The implications for Taiwan are stark. Despite relying on TSMC chips to power its military edge, the U.S. is structurally handcuffed. You can’t credibly defend a democratic ally when your missiles, radars, and drones need components processed in the aggressor’s country. Trump’s rhetoric may be loud, but his actions will be limited—he won’t jeopardise Wall Street, the tech sector, or midterm optics to defend Taiwan.

On social media, Trump declared: “WE ARE GETTING A TOTAL OF 55% TARIFFS, CHINA IS GETTING 10%. RELATIONSHIP IS EXCELLENT!” But a White House official, who was not authorized to discuss the terms publicly and insisted on anonymity to describe them, said the 55% was not an increase on the previous 30% tariff on China because Trump was including pre-existing tariffs, including some left over from his first term.

“We have no idea what the rules are,″ said Rick Woldenberg, CEO of the educational toy company Learning Resources, who is part of a lawsuit challenging Trump’s authority to impose the tariffs. “The U.S. found it needed to back off the restrictions it had thought would generate leverage,” he said, “and in exchange, they get merely a promise by the Chinese to dole out critical minerals a bit more quickly.”

Veronique de Rugy, senior research fellow at George Mason University’s Mercatus Center, dismissed the London truce as “a handshake deal … It can change at any time.”

Facts of life:

China mines 70% of the world's rare earths.

It processes 90% into useable form.

The US military is dependent on rare earths for advanced weapons technologies.

America only has one operating rare earth mine. It sends its production to China for beneficiation.

Putting it bluntly, Xi has Trump's testicles in a vice.

Right on. Among the many imponderabilities between "the West" and China, why has the "International Press" not isolated the Rare Earth Problem as absolutely PARAMOUNT. Qualifying the many other Chinese Problems as secondary.

Decades ago we thought that we were dependent on oil from "the Arabs". Childs play compared to the dependency of Chinese rare earths of today.

The West is sitting at the chinese poker table. The Chinese have all the cards, we have none. The "chief dealmaker" will not change this constellation.

To look at Melanias "career" before Trump is helpful. The master dealmaker made just another deal some years ago.

Plenty of clips that show Melanias bodylanguage, ranging from disinterest to embarassement to utter contempt. A puppet on a string, living in a golden cage.

Adults should be able to interpret "body language" to a certain minimum degree. Those that cant't, will end up in divorce court. Probably more than once.

Trump’s Treasury Sec Admits It’s Another TACO Day With China

"President Donald Trump is “highly likely” to extend the 90-day tariff pause for countries negotiating with the U.S. in “good faith,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Wednesday.

Trump declared America’s “liberation” from unfair trading policies on April 2, sending the stock market into a nosedive with his announcement of sweeping levies on most of the country’s trading partners. Days later, as stocks continued to tank, Trump hit pause on his trade war and declared a 90-day reprieve on tariffs for most countries, just as he backed off his tariffs on Canadian goods and lowered his sky-high duties on Chinese imports."
