Does EMS signed for with Thailand Post also track within the destination country?

Posted some documents with EMS and it's tracked its progress as far as entering the destination country, but not status change since then for 7 days.


Does any one know if the should be status updates once in the destination country and should I expect confirmation of delivery?

Sent my LC in April, tracked all the way & showed proof of delivery.

Even ordinary registered mail is tracked in the destination country.

You should try the tracking site of the destination country (UK?).

If it shows up there it has passed customs checkpoint.

 

The last update you show says "in transit at intermediate country", DOH for Doha, Qatar?

Why do you think it has reached destination country?

Where am I able to do that?  It was sent with EMS Thai post, whose website should I check in the destination country?

I found some other parcel tracker, and one gave me a bit more info that's its with Universal Postal Union.




However, when I check in their tracker I get even less info:

last month I sent a small package from Kanchanaburi to Germany.

it was tracked all the way, taking 2 days to get to Suvarnabhumi Airport - then no data for 9 days, until it arrived in Germany, followed by detailed tracking until it was delivered 2 days later.

I assumed it had a short Euro holiday stopover - lol

Found two vague results that are similar.

Certainly would have been quicker with someone like DHL and maybe cheaper too!  It was 1000 THB for a few sheets of A4 and a blue book!

For letters Germany's customs checkpoint is notoriously slow/overloaded.

6 days can happen.

 

One speculation: parcels from Thailand now prone to even more stringent checks thanks to the wonderful cannabis liberalization? Sniffer dog needs a break.

I've had two different packages get lost AFTER clearing customs in Thailand. I followed the Tracker as far as 'In transit to final destination' and the post office couldn't find them.
Fortunately, the companies re-shipped and those got through. Tracking did nothing for me.

In my experience, 'package is in transit to destination country' doesn't necessarily mean that it is actually on a 'plane flying there.  What seems to happen is that the package clears Thai customs, outbound, and then waits until a suitable 'plane is available.  If you use EMS then the delay is usually short but registered mail seems to take longer. 

 

Again, in my experience, sending stuff to the UK,  the package will not reappear on the tracking radar until it has cleared customs inbound at the Langley Postal Centre at Heathrow and this can take several days.  Langley has been described as a 'black hole' because things seem to disappear there, sometimes never to re-emerge.  Once cleared by Langley it is possible to track the package, either on the Thailand Post website or by using the UK Royal Mail site.

 

For other destination countries YMMV, as they say.

I sent a passport application on May 27th by normal Thailand Post with tracking.

 

I tracked it, and it arrived at HMPO on June 6th 2025.

 

Both EMS and Thailand Post has tracking right up to delivery in the country it is posted to.

I send a package from my country to Korat Used DHL.Was delivered at the door after 2 days.

I also send to surin with normal post route.Took 5 days.A tip ..if u send a package/letter to Thailand dont use the adress to the person u send it to Use poste restante so it goes to the post office and the receiver can pick it up there instead of waiting maybe weeks before it arrives to the home adress.

I have had recent experience of sending a parcel to Austria. The tracking worked all the way, and showed that it went from Bangkok on Finnair via Helsinki, then into the EU in Ireland. The codes like GBDOH and GBCVTA are called ITMATT codes, but it is very hard to find what they mean. From Ireland our parcel was returned to Thailand without any reason. We are still trying to get the IPC to explain, two months after the event.

We then sent the parcel again, and it was again tracked to Helsinki, and then to Vienna. It then sat in customs in Vienna for over a week. The parcel contained a quilted body warmer and liner left behind by a visitor. She has finally received the parcel but been charged storage by Austrian Customs. The Customs Label, CN22, was quite clear on the contents.

We have since sent a parcel to Australia, and it has been tracked as far as "Departure from Suvarnabhumi to Sydney" since Friday 6 June, so is presumably waiting for a flight. I used the Thailand Post Tracking Number on the Australia Post website and it worked fine, but gave exactly the same message.

So tracking works all the way to destination, and can be followed from home PO or destination PO. There are many opportunities fior delay in transit.

Use Thai Post to track here and your home country postal tracking. Use the same tracking number. I’m from the US so I use USPS. It will track to the destination.

Yes, if the destination is in the UK.  I used to regularly send EMS mail and by using Royal Mail's tracking system (using the same reference code), I was always informed of final delivery, even with a copy of the recipient's signature.

 

Here in Cambodia, I use Registered Air Mail with a similar tracking system which can be monitored on the Royal Mail's system in the UK.
