Accident Hit-and-Run Horror as Pedestrian Killed in Pattaya

A 51-year-old Thai woman has died after being struck by a black SUV in a hit-and-run incident late night on 13 June, in Pattaya. The driver fled the scene without offering assistance, leaving the victim fatally injured at the roadside.

 

Emergency services were alerted to the incident, which occurred on PhraTamnak Soi 3 in Pattaya, Chonburi Province. Volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call.

 

Upon arrival, rescue workers found Ms Wira-on Sriladda lying in a pool of blood with critical injuries. Bystanders had attempted to direct traffic and offer initial first aid. Rescue personnel initiated CPR, but Ms Sriladda succumbed to her injuries shortly afterwards at the scene.

 

Eyewitness accounts, including information from a foreign national who had been walking with the victim, stated that the pair had been returning to their accommodation on foot after dining out when a black SUV struck Ms Sriladda from behind. The impact threw her on to the ground and the vehicle sped off without stopping.

 

Mr Natthaworakarn Chaiyukhod, 35, reported that the foreign companion of the victim immediately called out for help, prompting passersby to notify emergency responders.

 

Police Lieutenant Colonel Thanongsak Inphadung of Pattaya City Police Station confirmed that CCTV footage captured a black SUV, the suspected vehicle, although its registration number was not visible. Investigators are now working to identify the vehicle and apprehend the driver.

 

Authorities have pledged a full investigation, with efforts underway to track down the suspect and bring them to justice.

So important to have your wits about you when walking ANYWHERE in Thailand. I got hit in Bangkok, thankfully slow speed. Have to be aware at all times! No drunk driving and no drunk walking either. Just tragic for this poor woman.

Always walk towards the traffic...    In this case the lady 'should' have been walking on the other side of the road where there was more room and she'd be facing on-coming traffic...     Thats not to blame her - drivers, even idiot ones should be able to see and avoid whats in front of them....

... I hope they throw the book at this vermin - mowing down a pedestrian then driving off - ultimate act of verminous scum....

That said: It does often astonish me how often pedestrians will step out into a road without looking, or walk down the side of the road, in the road, without a care to their own safety - I just can't do that... I'm too alert to the risk of some idiot being on their phone etc...

There is a footpath in the video, and even though the motor bikes take up so much of that space, there is a narrow track behind them. Seems like they carelessly trod the wider path .... on the road.  Doesnt mean the driver can hit and run. 😟

Soi Buakhao and some of it's sideroads, very dodgy. There is an aggression in drivers here.

I live near by and cross the soi daily. There are no sidewalks and on a long stretch there are no buildings and overhanging trees make foot traffic very difficult to spot.
