None taken. Seems non Thai married couple.

With son attending school the OP plans wife to be dependant.

Hope OP (after success) gives full report.

As will @brewsterbudgen

This question comes up and first hand reports will be beneficial.

  • No, it isn't a Non 0-A visa, which is purely based on retirement purposes. His wife requires a Non O visa as the family member of an alien who has been permitted an ED visa for study.

  • @brewsterbudgen thinking you went through this?  Any advice.    Edit: the important thing is to obtain the Non O prior to entering Thailand.

  • Oh and I'm aware that opening a bank account is not as straightforward as it used to be. However the admins at my son's school told us that my wife should not have any issue as a non-O visa holder.

What an outstanding reply! That will have taken you a while to make. I can't believe that someone gave you a thumbs down.

Unfortunately, when you're answering Immigration questions, it goes above the heads of some who don't understand.

Hence, the negative reactions.

Read the OP's posts again.

He has stated his wife is Japanese and is applying for the Non O visa.

Neither the OP, his wife, nor their son has Thai nationality.

It's written up there. She's Japanese. And it's also confirmed up there, in the first reply by Liquorice, the deposit in a Thai bank in our case is 500K.

We haven't done it yet, but I have never heard that the money needs to have come from abroad.  In our case, we've been living as family in Thailand for 10 years, so all our (and my wife's) money is here in Thailand.

The visa you get is Non-OA, not the same as Non-O, check the difference, and surprised only, 500,000 TB, I thought it was 800,000

I will ask my son's school admins and report back.

The admins of my son's school confirmed that there's no requirement to prove that the funds deposited come from abroad.
