Brothers, can you remember the days? Boeing 747's taking off to Thailand. Fully booked by sex tourists. (Commonly called as sex bombers). Bowling clubs, soccer clubs, stamp collecting clubs etc etc etc. Nobody thaught of anything wrong with it. It was also the time, when "Thai massage parlors" all over Europe sprang up like mushrooms.

 

All gone: Today, ladies from Eastern Europe have ruined the prices. Thai ladies making more money in Thailand. Why stay?

 

As a result, true "Thai Massage Parlors" have become few and far apart in western Europe. Equalling the price structure of today in Thailand. So again, why stay?

 

So, therefore I ask myself why there are still Farangs, willing to sit in an airplane for 11 hours, paying for sex that they could have in their neighborhood at the same price, especially as the "girlfriend-sindrome" of Thai Ladies is also a thing of the past. 

 

Surely, butterfly collectors and some that still try to analyse the true meaning of Buddism may still feel the urge to visit Thailand. With the financial support of some NGO's, if possible.

It is to say that the arrivals of the Boeing 747's have contributed more to the developpemet of Thailand than any other sigular effort by the Thai governement.

I transferred here for work in '99 and while I remember 747 service, most of what you posted makes any sense to me, 

I think it has changed quite a bit

 

I met my now wife back in the early 2000's when we were working at the same company in Singapore. Sordid office affair etc etc.

 

Anyhoo, started to visit Thailand on vacation to see my wife's family.

 

Her cousin lived in Pattaya, in the 'entertainment' business! 

 

The streets were then filled with older balding single white guys, obviously looking for a spiritual experience in a temple.

 

On one visit then with my 4 or 5 year old son I remember being barraged with the 'humsum man' crap, clearly I was fresh meat, walking with my wife and son!

 

We went back couple of years ago, it is different. The demographic has changed. Lot less white guys, lots and lots more Indian men.

I think the Chinese just come to eat as much seafood as they can then off to the next ceramic store, if they are coming at all anymore.

 

I never quite got the concept of paying for sex, but far be it from me to judge anyone that does.

It all mostly ended because of inflation. Falling western currencies and rising Asian currencies. 

 

But there is more young white guys now whether it is remote workers or travelers. The scruffy old guys were going extinct by the mid 2000's and were gone by 2012. 

Full English breakfast available all day killed off more of the clientele than mere age and STDs

after going through sh-tty airports and get STD's or other diseases

and pay too much to get their appendix wet ?

 

And I don't think there are many 747's left.
