My passport expires 10 May 2026. My extension of stay expires 13 July 2026 (I just renewed it). When I go to transfer stamps in May (or earlier) will I have to renew my extension at that time? My memory is that I did the last time, but it was much closer to the end of the previous extension, and my memory is not very good anyway.

Your consular dept. will put a stamp in the old passport stating that "This Passport has been superseded by passport number xxxyyyccc. and maybe used when presented with the superseding passport  for the sole purpose of presenting any visa...etc. etc.

I am in a similar position.

I last obtained a new passport about 8.5 years ago - I just took the new and old passports (and photocopies of same) with the required form to Hua Hin Immigration; no extension of visa, just a transfer with the same expiry date.

That's strange.

Your extension should have been given with "until date" Same as expiry of pp. May 10.

In any event not sure of what you are asking.

When you obtain new pp the old one is cancelled however valid visas, extension, reentry permit etc remain valid.

You attend immigration to have visa information and relevant stamps transferred to new pp.

BTW: Renew pp this year some folk end up in a tangle leaving it late.

Saves little money to run the tank to empty.

Which immigration office?

Your extension should end the same date as your passport expires, seems they made a mistake.  If they really have stamped you in until July '26 you'll have to wait and see what happens when you get your new passport, if you're lucky they'll transfer the extension as it is.

Guys, I have to confess, was in same position as OP once several years back.  Got new passport and transferred all stamps at immigration, for a nominal fee of course.  Don't remember how much but did pay something.

So it is not unheard of.

With all things in LOS, as always YMMV

Not with British Passports. You get the new one, go to Immigration and they do it from their past computer records. FREE OF CHARGE. So it doesn't matter if your old Passport is not available or damaged. Been there & done it last month.

Indeed, stamps etc must be transferred prior to next extension.

Some folk leave it to when they have business at immigration.

Folk note to update you details with your bank.

BTW: There is no fee. They fleeced you.
