A fire broke out late afternoon on 25 June, in the heart of Pattaya, with flames engulfing the third floor of a commercial building housing a beer bar and rental rooms.

The incident occurred at approximately 17:05 at The Chalawan Bar, located off Soi Buakhao in Soi Lengkee, Central Pattaya. Emergency services were alerted after thick black smoke was seen billowing from the upper floors of the property.

The ground floor of the building operates as a beer bar, while the upper floors are used for accommodation. According to officials, the fire ignited on the third floor and rapidly consumed the entire room. Smoke and a strong burning odour quickly filled the area, sparking concerns as staff and patrons evacuated the premises.

Fire engines from Pattaya’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters, alongside volunteer rescue teams from Sawang Boriboon and local police, worked swiftly to contain the blaze. The fire were brought under control within 30 minutes.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, one female employee fainted from shock and required medical attention. Many tourists and local residents gathered nearby to watch, as authorities secured the area and temporarily closed off traffic around the scene.

Mr. Tharit Chancharoen, Deputy District Chief of Bang Lamung, confirmed that bar staff reported a burning smell moments before smoke was seen emanating from the upper floor.

“Staff were working downstairs when they noticed the smell of smoke and rushed out for safety. They immediately alerted authorities,” he said.

Initial investigations suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit, though the exact cause is yet to be confirmed. Damage to the third-floor room was extensive, with all belongings and furnishings affected and destroyed.

The investigation into the cause is ongoing.

Fortunately, a fire station is right around the corner.  They were able to get on it pretty quickly and prevent it from spreading to adjacent buildings.

Someone was having a fag after his 'horizontal exercises' ?

Apparently the pong of burnt, used condoms was dreadful.

Anyway, nice and close to the fire station.

In American speak, both activities are carried out at the same time.
