That was my thinking as well until I went to my local shop to resupply. She's getting rid of all her product while waiting for the police telling her to shutdown.

Prostitution isn't illegal on paper.  Many aspects of it are, but paying for sex is not against the law in Thailand.  Imagine if it was!!

The medical aspect of the new restrictions on selling/buying cannabis suggest there will still be plenty of loopholes.  I do, howeevr, feel sorry for those who have invested in a business selling it which may now be closed down.

Interesting. Thanks for pointing that out.

Not so different from what it used to be. Had to be pretty stupid being caught with drugs before the legalization of weed.

The majority of people in Thai jails are there for drugs.

I was thinking of normal expats who use weed or any other recreational drug. Not those who are addicted or those who got involved in criminal activities involving drugs.

Wouldn't it be easier to buy them outside?

Prostitution establishments like bars with sex rooms are clearly against the law. But they still widely operate.

I think weed shops will be the same. Illegal on paper, widely available in practice.

Not sure. I bought like 40g for 1500b baht plus a handful of papers.

Prostitution is illegal in Thailand but many authority figures have been making a lot of money for many decades from prostitution.  Weed might have the same business model in the future.

In some countries (and USA states) where recreational weed is illegal but medical weed is legal, if a potential patient meets certain conditions as determined by a certified cannabis doctor (and almost all potential patients pass the test), then a cannabis medical card is issued (for a small fee) and is valid for one year.  The patient then visits the doctor again after one year (visits can be conducted via FaceTime), the fee is then paid, and the patient is then good to go for another year.  This is another potential business model in Thailand going forward.

The current government has been in stuck mode for weeks and will be for at least two weeks. Current Thaksin party will be finished hopefully gone for good this time. Daddy and daughter will run away and hide like they always do. Health Minister will be tossed out on his A$$ and my hunch is hopefully the new government will focus on enforcing weed laws already made into law better. like smoking in public or in shops etc.

I paid 1k baht for st with an accountant once. It turned out her mum was a police officer...dropped her off and picked her up from my hotel, said she was visiting a friend. So it must be legal 😄
