Reminds me of a long flight I had, where this bloke in the window seat was drinking beer heavily and would get up for a pezz every 15-20 minutes. After 4 or 5 times I said 'why dont we swap seats' and he said eff off I wont the window. So I said 'this is the last time - slow down the drinking'.  He ignored me. I again packed up my laptop and work documents and stood up to let him out - and did that again when he came back. 15 minutes later he wanted to go again - I said 'No - pezz in a bottle". He complained - I refused - he called the stewardess. When she arrived he went off - I said nothing - when she asked why I refused to move, I said he has had at least 8 beers and goes to the toilet every 15-20 minutes and has done that 6 times so far, which means I have top pack up all my gear to let him out, and again to let him back in. I said that I offered to swap seats but he was offensive and refused.  She asked him 'is all that true' and he said 'Yeh, so what - I can go to the toilet if I want'. She then said to me 'we have a spare seat in business class, would you like to move?'  She helped me pack and carry all my gear to business class, and she did not say another word to the ars****.  Winner winner chicken dinner. Sad thing is that less and less stewards are like that these days.

I never speak to anyone sat next to me on a long haul flight so I certainly don't sit there smelling their breath. Extremely unlikely I will ever see them again so comfortable with that.

 

If it looks like I've got a 'talker' next to me I start twitching and making random noises for a few minutes. Seems to do the trick.

That is a great idea - set the weight limit at 120Kgs and if they cannot fit in the 'trial seat'.
