There is a thing called the internet where you can learn anything about the world. Books can teach you a lot, and researching is at your fingertips these days which makes looking up anything faster. Thai violence didn't just start the last two decades.
As I understand it, the police are investigating. I'm sure they will be taking the Shadow Home Secretary's views into account, as well as every other politician, including the Prime Minister, who has commented.
Yes. Some do absolutely, but many don't. I have no idea what the numbers look like, we can only guess, but I know a number of Thai men that are well put together and have very strong hearts and minds, so lumping the entire population in with some bad eggs is never a good idea, nor is it a particularly accurate conclusion.
Having said that I think there's are some inherent factors within the culture that do stifle emotional development number one people are not encouraged to look within for the source of the problem nor to take responsibility that is a situation that can have tragic results, and it's astonishing because it's the polar opposite of Buddhistic teachings.
Number two, there's the issue of face which often gets in the way, from my point of view it's an extreme level of personal weakness, and caring about what strangers think about you is an incredibly lame way to live. But, Thailand it's only a couple of generations removed from being a fairly tribal culture, so silly things like saving face is very much in play these days.
