I had this problem for the first time yesterday.  I bank with Kbank and use their app all the time.

I was trying to pay a contractor 54,000 baht (I'm building a house so there are large payments being made regularly).  The payment was declined and a message told me that I had to visit the bank and get my face scanned.

I then tried paying 24,000 baht, which worked.  The remaining 30,000 payment immediately afterwards also worked.  I'll visit the bank sometime but it's not urgent now.

Face scan is to change your daily limits or for transfers over 50k. Like you've discovered, you can make multiple transfers instead up to 200k a day I believe.

you do need to move your head and blink. 

if you can't figure it out, just go to your branch and someone there will guide you through it. 

 

Did mine at the local branch as I was adding another account to my mobile app earlier in June.

I had the same issue. After the 2nd or 3rd try, I squinted enough to figure it out and blink and turn my head the right way. 
The next time I stopped at the bank I mentioned the issue to the banking lady. She said there was no work around, but if I really needed to do whatever was to be done, go to the bank branch  and get her help. 

Unfortunately, in Phimai doing anything that needs help I am looking at an easy hour wait.

But is this face scan thing just for increasing limits etc or do we all have to do it?

Yes , i always get the same problem,  it never recognises my face.

Also this blink and open your mouth is very confusing

Nerver worked for me. I pay 2, 3, 4 times 40000 Baht instead of one transfer. Very bad app.

It's about increasing limits, particularly the single transfer limit of 50k.

I don't think you are forced to have it setup.

 

And wow, for once it worked for me. 90k from my BKB to Kbank.

It seems all about this blinking with the eyes at the right time.

But yes it's annoying. Why can't they give audio instructions or some flashing/big font.

They could really use some help from experienced developers.

In the west accessibility is a big thing.

   I had a lot of trouble the last time I did a money transfer with my Bangkok bank account.  It kept rejecting my attempts, telling me to put my face in the green frame--but the green color in the frame kept going off and on and I kept getting rejected.  Also got the message a number of times that I was being rejected because I was wearing a head covering, when I was not.  After many tries, somtimes signing off and back on to my account and starting over, it finally worked.  At least it did allow me to try many times but the system needs work.

I gave up, sent the guy a 49,900 payment, and said I'd bring the rest in cash tomorrow.

That head cover and blink 3x nearly made me go mad.

If I take my glasses off, I can't see the instructions.

Increasing limit to over 50k PLUS every transaction over 50k.

So the first transaction you have to do the facial nonsense twice.

You also have to do it when activating the bank app on a new phone.

    I nearly went mad, too.  I can see the instructions just fine, and did exactly what they wanted--blinking slowly 3 times, smiling with teeth showing, etc.  Still got the head covering error and the green frame kept disappearing, I have no idea why.   

    In the past, I sometimes had to do it 2 or 3 times, changing the lighting, etc., but this was the first time I got the head cover error and the green frame not working.  We'll see how it does next time.

The thing is, all those instructions should only apply to the setup. Once setup, it should only be a selfie, as it is with Krungsri and Kasikorn.
