Accident Driver Dozes Off, Flips Car in Pattaya Collision

A sleepy driver causes a crash, flipping his car on South Pattaya Road, fortunately without injuries

 

On 3rd July, an incident was reported where a driver fell asleep at the wheel and collided with a parked car waiting to enter a side street on South Pattaya Road, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung, Chonburi. His Toyota Yaris overturned, landing upside down, but luckily, no one was hurt.

 

The police responded swiftly to the scene where three cars suffered damage.

 

The white Toyota Yaris, driven by 24-year-old Jetthakorn (surname withheld), ended up overturned. A black Mitsubishi, owned by 32-year-old Sumalee (surname withheld), had front-end damage, while a black Honda Jazz also had side damage.

Sumalee claimed she was signalling to turn right when the erratic Yaris hit her vehicle, causing it to flip. Jetthakorn admitted to feeling drowsy after dropping off his girlfriend and falling asleep before the crash.

 

Police documented the scene and are reviewing CCTV footage for further evidence. All parties involved will be interviewed as part of the ongoing legal process.

I bet his girlfriend was glad she got dropped off first.

How do you flip a car on it's lid on a straight road, in Pattaya. I have seen it on straight country roads and many on our mountain road where slides are easy in the wet but the Thais seem to have a special talent for flipping them on the lid. Maybe its part of their driver training.

I've been around a good few Countries and lived in several but i've never known a Country other than this where people constantly fall asleep at the wheel; or at least they say that's what happened !
