Cat was already half dead due to the dog attack.  The guy cooked and ate the nearly dead animal.  They want to prosecute this poor garbage collector because he was hungry?  How about someone prosecute the owner of the cat for allowing it out through negligence?

In a distressing incident from Rayong, a Thai woman, Praeyada Prae, discovered that a garbage collector had cooked her deceased pet cat, Tao Hoo, and was demanding payment for the remains. The shocking event unfolded after Praeyada shared her sorrowful tale on Facebook, urging other pet owners to remain vigilant.

Praeyada recounted how her five-month-old cat went missing when her friends accidentally left her door unlatched, allowing Tao Hoo and her other cats, Lion and Almond, to wander out. While Lion and Almond were safely retrieved, Tao Hoo fell victim to a stray dog attack.

A village security guard witnessed the attack and attempted to save the cat. Sadly, he could only place Tao Hoo's body near his office, intending to give it a proper burial. However, a refuse collector took the cat's body without permission.

Determined to find Tao Hoo, Praeyada and her friends tracked down the garbage collector. Initially, he claimed to have disposed of the body in a nearby forest. When challenged to show the location, he emerged from his home with a grilling rack, shockingly presenting the remains of her beloved pet. Tao Hoo's collar, complete with a name tag and Praeyada's phone number, was still intact.

The collector demanded 200 baht (approximately 440 Thai Baht) for the body. Refusing to comply with the demand, Praeyada left the remains and took only the collar. She expressed outrage, noting that the man should have contacted her as Tao Hoo was clearly not a stray.

After reporting the incident to the police, Praeyada lamented that her concerns were not given due importance. Despite the distressing nature of the events, it seemed the authorities sought to address the matter amicably, citing the man's impoverished circumstances.

In a turn of events, the Watchdog Thailand Foundation pledged support to Praeyada, advocating for justice. The incident has sparked significant attention online, fueling debate over animal rights and responsibilities toward domesticated pets.

As the story circulates, it serves as a poignant reminder of the deep bonds between pets and their owners, and the responsibilities of society to safeguard these connections.

How could the waste collector know that this cat was belonging to someone?

I hope the taste was delicious 😂

Resorting to eating road kill shows a person is pretty desperate. Thais will eat most anything they can get and if road kill is what they'll eat, a short drive should find all they'll need. Someone wanting compensation shows the mentality here, as the cat would have been buried anyway.

It was dead already. And how is letting a cat out, negligence? lol.

The garbage collector should come to Australia, there is an abundance and a large variety of road  kill there.

You could feed an army on the road killed deer in a year;s time just in Pennsylvania alone.

I originally came here to enhance my spiritual growth. The lesson I learned was be careful for what you ask for because you get it.  What I thought would be more of a classroom-room learning experience turned out to be one hell of a learning experience. This is still a Third World country. And the intelligence level may not be that of the United States, but the scams  still work. Men are still taking advantage of because they think with their genitals more than their brain,  and animal abuse exists.  Doing that to someone’s pet. Is one step above primate level existence.
Always remember the bottom line if the intelligence level in this country were higher, the cost of living would be also  and also 65-year-old men could not come here and get 20-year-old girlfriends who they think love them. If someone did that to one of our pets, things would be very different and would go very different.

🤣🤣🤣

Her demand doesn't make any sense.

If she didn't want anyone to  reclaim her dead cat, she should have  buried it, instead of dumping it in garbage stream.

Once threw it away, she can no  longer c!aim her ownership of that thing.

If her dead cat saved someone from his hunger, it is a kind of making a good merit; what Thais call it Tang Bun(give away for someone else's salvation).

There is always a reason to demand money. sad.

In this case, almost looks like an extortion.

Once she tosses away her dead animal, that's it.

It no longer belongs to her; anyone can reclaim it.

End of story.

She got no grounds to demand paynpment.

Yet another case of "cat corpse desecrator"?   Bon appétit - in that case!

With every new day there are more things I completely fail to understand; this one might be the winner for the 1st half year 2568 😞

I think the cat was already dead when taken and grilled. The issue is about payment for the remains. I don’t think he ate the cat as he was trying to sell the remains.

There’s an argument to say that the grilling constituted a cremation. But who really knows 🤷‍♂️

The suggestion of prosecuting somebody for letting the cat out is laughable, what offence has been committed , ? Its hardly negligent
