My ex wife and girlfriend now didn't bother killing flies until I explained to them what flies do, along with mosquitoes

  • This will be another Thai bashing thread. I am guessing you can’t understand Thai language so everything they say you can’t make sense out of? The list will be endless.

  • Nah, someone will find a way to turn it in a Trump bashing thread somehow.

Or keep it open for just one that isn't in the trade.

Wet towel on the bed. Do all thai women do this?

Its the equivalent if i were to walk around the house with my shoes on. Me having to sleep on wet sheets

Zero problem. Just take it as a sign, that something might be very wet and needs to be taken care of.

Most Thai women are normal women - just because one does something strange, it doesn't mean all do it.

Wet Towel on the bed - I would like to propose a potential explanation:

Latent Heat of Vaporisation.

In the past before Thais could afford air conditioners (or indeed before they were invented) it is possible that a wet towel on the bed would provide some cooling to the body due to latent heat of vaporisation (a technique used in so called evaporative air conditioners) It's crude but I think the science would support it and like many things cultural it probably persists even when there are now better cooling solutions.

If it makes no sense to you it might make sense to Thais.

Why not ask the Thais instead of bashing?

Indicating left when turning onto a one way road , and they all follow suit like lemmings.

And the really brilliant idea of putting on their hazards when going straight on! Great if one side is obscured by another vehicle.

Putting a,wet towel on a bed with a fan is a great way to cool down.I ve often used a damp towel as a blanket for that reason. My wife( farang )hates it .Same as when I don't really dry myself thoroughly after a shower and let the fan do the job and cool me at the same time.

Wear a mask in a car alone in 2025

It hat person was wearing the mask outside too, either just lazy or forgot about it. Happend to me many times when Covid was bad. Going to buy stuff, then back in the car and at home I see that I still wear the mask. I just did not think about it, because I was used to wear a mask.

If a mask does not bother you, why put it on and off all the time. But it was a lame joke even back then anyway.

...and what could they say about weird westerner quirks ?

See all recent social media flare-up rage vids with westerner antics.

The Thai circus vs the westerner circus.

The Thai circus has the advantage. Elephants and clowns!

Sitting on the floor to eat when there's tables and chairs.

Standing on the sky train or MRT when there are plenty of unoccupied seats.

Asking me my opinion    (which turns out to be correct),  then goes and asks a Thai man the same question, his answer being opposite to mine, but still follows Thai man's advice

Farang don't stand?

I stand even when there are seats. We're usually only on there for a short period, why do you need to sit down?

I would have forgotten more about Thai culture than you will ever know.

I can easily walk or cycle for miles, but I hate having to stand even for a few seconds.

And they are very slow to learn. It takes them a few hundred tries before getting it right

Should we go to dinner?  "Up to you."

Do you think that will be enough?  "Up to you."

Does the car need petrol?  "Up to you."

Vendors always pump up the plastic bag with air when they put their food in it.

It only makes it bulky and speeds up food decay(more contacts with air; bacteria).
